My son is off his ADHD Meds. The pharmacy cannot get them. None of the pharmacies in our area can.
It is apparently a problem for many in the USA.

Any advise?

It is an issue in the UK, too.

I'm not sure what the answer is, apart from waiting until stocks replenish.

Yeah me too. My dose has been all over the place for months. I asked for an alternative but it wasn't possible because the shortage is across the board.

Im due to put my prescription in for next week so I'll see what I get then

I think it's the stimulant meds that are having shortages due to them getting a lot more popular for weight loss. There are some non-stimulant meds that can be used for ADHD. Provigil/Modafinil & it's variation Nuvigil/Armodafinil are kinda like more mild stimulants so they're used a lot less for weight loss but they're still ocasionally used for that. They're also controlled substances like stimulants. My girlfriend was just prescribed Provigil for the first time & had no problem getting it filled. Wellbutrin/Bupropion is an antidepressant that has some stimulating effects & is sometimes used ADHD. It's also sometimes used for weight loss but me & my gf have been taking it for quite a while & have no problems getting it. We're in Vermont so it might be different in other places. Strattera/Atomoxetine & Qelbree/Viloxazine are non-stimulant meds approved for ADHD. Kavpay/Clonidine & Tenex/Guanfacine are meds to treat high blood pressure that can also treat ADHD as well as anxiety & PTSD.

We have a shortage of low dose Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) here in Australia. I'm fortunate to be on the highest dose so I've been able to get it.

I'm on quite a high dose for my ADHD 50mg I get. I've only been able to get 30's since last November. I'm not all that bothered tbh it's not really medication to keep me alive and I can use weed to take care of some of the symptoms but that's not really ideal I don't suppose.

I saw on the news yesterday that epilepsy medication is in short supply in the UK as well and that's a different issue altogether because it is a life saving drug.

Went to get my script this morning and it's still only 30s. It seems to be the 10mg pills that are in short supply round here.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard a study where they tested a lot of ADHD meds and discovered they were placebo or not filled with strong enough stuff, despite patients being charged full price.

There was a big inquiry about it in UK. People were going viral saying they hadn't felt the effects of their meds for a long time so they kept ordering higher doses ... at prices which of course are much higher too.

Freaking pharma.

In the UK, drugs are regulated by the MHRA which is supposed to have a quality surveillance system to sample test drugs on the market to ensure the quality and safety of drugs available via prescription.

They also have other powers, including being able to prosecute those selling counterfeit medicines (particularly on the internet).

I think the FDA in the US does something similar.

It wasn't a great article but I can't find the ones that I saw before.
It was about Adderall specifically.
Some people insist it's been weakened or changed.
They gave a rationale about people's tolerance increasing.

There was a much bigger hoopla about it in UK.
It wasn't just Adderall.

I'm not even saying it's true, but there was an outcry and investigation.

Both stimulant and non-stimulant meds are in short supply and have been for months, allegedly due to supply-chain and production issues at the facilities that can legally produce amphetamines. Once people on stimulant meds ran out or couldn't get it reliably, they were switched to non-stimulant meds. Creating a shortage of both types.

I should go through my med stash.
I have some of everything.
All sorts of crap, including my daughter's meds.
Hers get switched all the time, mid-script.
Everything from antibiotics to sedatives, Epilepsy meds, etc.
Beta Blockers, ADHD, antipsychs, antidepressants, benzos.
Buspar - I know that's hard to get in USA.

I don't know what to do with it all.
I'm not a junkie.
My point is that I don't take it.
