For those that do not know, the Kinsey scale is a simple scale from 0 (exclusively heterosexual) to 6 (exclusively homosexual), originally designed to describe sexual behaviours. However, it is not uncommon for people these days (especially in the LGBT community) to use the scale to describe their attractions rather than simply just their behaviours. The scale was designed to show that sexuality was less black and white than originally thought, and that some individuals fall in-between. Some variants also have an X (no sexual experiences, or asexual depending) and an F (failed- aka, the test doesn't know where to place you).

There's no official test as it's meant to be more on a self-assessment basis, but there are several versions online based on the idea:

http://vistriai.com/kinseyscaletest/ (warning, questions of a sexual nature- obviously)

My result: 6- exclusively homosexual

My expected result:6- exclusively homosexual

Ha, no surprises there then. :D

Feel free to post your results here.

I scored 0----exclusively heterosexual.

Like I expected.

Dr. Kinsey was a most interesting man. Have you seen the movie about him?

"F The test failed to match you to a Kinsey Type profile. Either you answered some questions wrong, or you are a very unusual person"

I know a bit about him, and some of the er...more disturbing details about his life (particularly his experiments regarding children and the whole circumcising himself, plus the speculation that he was bi or gay himself and the self-harm he put himself through) although I got that information from Wikipedia so who knows how accurate any of that is.

But no, I haven't seen the film on him.

As for Kinsey's sexual orientation, he was bisexual, but given how people viewed LGBT people in his time, he often punished himself whenever he had homoerotic thoughts.

Ah right, I thought that might be the case but I wasn't sure.

Update: I decided to watch the film after seeing it mentioned here. So, I've seen it now.

I can't get any further than the second question -
What gender do you identify as
o Man
o Woman

Oh dear ...

Yeah, the quiz isn't great for those that identify in-between, or Intersexed individuals for that matter.

I I remember taking that test a while ago and got an X.
Screw it I'm taking it again.

~a few moments later~

Conformed, X. No surprise there.
I am a computer scientist in training though, so can I just have a computer wife like Plankton?
