First, I got this idea from Jutty the OP of the "KyleF" thread.

I thought it would be fun to list LGBT people who inspires us or has inspired us. They don't have to be famous they can be someone you know or know of and it doesn't have to be just one person. You can post as many as you like over time.

Share a picture or video if you can and say why they inspire you.

Remember to try to keep it nice and clean in here and I'll try my best to do the same. I hope it doesn't get locked.

Thank You.

I would like to start with a video of this guy dancing. He's great and he inspires me to dance and enjoy life. Take a look of the video and you will see why. I should probably say this is for mature eyes only.

He has shorts on so I hope the video doesn't get deleted.

Here's a link just incase.

If I have to pick one, I suppose it would be Peter Jepson-Young. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Peter)

I'm a big fan of John Corvino. He's a philosophy professor at Wayne State University and he's known for a lecture that he gives all across the country called "What's Morally Wrong With Homosexuality?" He also writes columns for 365gay.com

Here's a video excerpt of his lecture:

Who will be my role model? topic

I have never known/met anyone LGBT personally, only the celebs in the news.

I am not LGBT (I am asexual) but on WP I respect the views of visagrunt. We could not be more different from one another. But his political viewpoints, humanism, honesty, and fairness (the poor guy might feel embarrassed reading this :hail: ) are qualities I admire in a human being, and are ones to emulate.

What else is a good role model for? :)

I am touched, sartresue. Thank you for the compliment.

(And thank you for your always clever "topic" comments. Some are witty, some are satirical, but all of them are spot on. I always enjoy them when I see them!)

Alan Turing, Ludwig Wittgenstein - brilliant minds, courageous characters, perhaps on the spectrum
Sviatoslav Richter- great Russian pianist.
Daniel Tammet- savant genius, definitely on the spectrum, publicly gay.

Comedian/Journalist Frank DeCaro-know him personally and he is actually the one person that got the ball rolling towards my diagnosis by noticing that I avoid eye contact and that started the research.

michael kirby- an ex justice of the australian high court, gay, still alive, works for justice for people from all walks of life including the community(queer and hiv/aids). remains a nice guy even though he has been attacked personally because of his sexuality.
oscar wilde- for being witty, gay (arguably bisexual) at a time when it was illegal and not accepted by society and for speaking out against prison conditions and other stuff.
harvey milk- gay, dead, the only person in politics i respect, working to better the position of the queer community and non queer community, being a loveable larakin who didn't act up himself and being out when it was not acceptable to be so.
all my heroes except one are queer and male.
