Otep Shamaya. Arguably one of the most creative, articulate, insightful and emotionally resilient, openly-lesbian singer-songwriters out there (and possibly one of the only- openly, I mean). In case the name didn't give it away, she writes the lyrics for, and fronts, the nu-mental band Otep.

I've met him after a talk he gave and he is awe inspiring!

If I had my own godless religion, he would be a major saint.

Definitely George Takei. Not only was he on Star Trek, but he continues to be an awesome guy on into his later years.

Meiko Xavier. I stumbled across his channel on youtube a while ago and found his attitude toward transition and just the way he approaches things in a gentle way very ... disarming.

Labi Siffre. I like his writing, and this song is one of my favourites:

The character Andrew from Desperate Housewives. Sure he's a bit of a sociopath and an as*hole to his mother, but I admire him for being so completely honest about his sexuality at an early age even when he had a conservative mother who was strongly against it at first. Also he kind of breaks the gay male stereotype in the media, he's not one of those "fabulous" gay characters who's obsessed with fashion and beauty, he's just himself and doesn't care what others think of him. Also he's potrayed as a strong-willled person, where most gay men in the American media are potrayed as either wimpy or so macho they can't be real.

Hm, nice to know we have a LGBT section here. ^^ This place has definitely changed from when I was here.

Otep Shamaya and KD Lang are lesbians that inspire me. I love Otep's raw power in her music and KD is also a musician with a rocking voice! ^^

Dave Gahan (Lead singer depeche mode) - His voice, & longstanding existance of being one of the main members of DM since 1981 to present day, & he looks a bit like me too 8) .

Craig Fairbrass - I liked his acting roles in both Eastenders & the film; Rise of the footsoldier , a "real hardman" in both acting roles.

Jurgen Projnov - Played a great leading role in the movie/tv series Das Boot

Roger Moore - His role as James Bond < the perfect gentleman & the raising of his one eyebrow feature- brilliant !

Paddy Consodine - His acting role in the film Dead mans shoes, hillariusly funny in parts, but the film has a serious nature to it.

Simom Callow - plays Tom Chance in Chance in a million TV comedy series - Hillariously funny the way he talks & his ability to consume a pint of lager within 5 seconds ! !!

Clive Owen - Played leading roll in mid 80's TV series Chancer

Jimmy Nail - His role as Oz in Auf wiedersehen pet , its the Geordie / Macken (I dont know which) accent that I love to hear.

EDIT : Just relized the meaning of LGBT in title of this thread  - All the above are hetrosexual as far as I know ! !

Yes, He is straight :?
I thought this thread was about people who inspire us, or that we admire most ? :?

Am I mistaken ? first few posts do refer to sexuality , so I was initially hesitant on my reply, maybe I'm mis-underanding title of the thread -
What does LGBT stand for ??

EDIT: LGBT , yes, Lesb-Gay-Bi-transv , Sorry I really should have known better !
