What do I think of same sex adoption?
I think that any child that is taken in by a couple who will go to that much effort to have a child is an extraordinarily lucky child.
Time and again we see people have children who lack the motivation, the resources or the skills to be good parents wind up getting trapped into parenting through accident or through carelessness. Too many children are raised in poverty or in abusive homes, because they were born to parents who either didn't want them, or didn't know how to cope with them.
So when two people, whether two women, a man and a woman or two men, are so enthusiastic about becoming parents that they will put themselves through the scrutiny, bureaucracy and delay of the adoption system just to have that chance, I say, "Way to go!"
