I think the sex scenes are very natural when you compare them to "lesbian" porn.

All right, youngsters & babydykes...time for some authentic mid-1990's stuff!

"Go Fish" (1994), with V.S. Brodie, Guinevere Turner and T. Wendy McMillan
The acting is sometimes not so great. Okay, it's bad in parts. And you'll find the film style odd. Almost as if it was a zero budget film student indie. Looking back it feels like an open mic reading of the book, 'Swashbuckler' by Lee Lynch, circa 1985 or so.

But, if you've ever wondered what life was like for lesbians when your parents were your age...I've known women who you could've dropped right into this film and they would've just looked around, shrugged and snuggled right in. Such a different era...

Update: afterellen-whatever-happened-to-the-cast-of-go-fish

Not sure it's even out yet, but has any one seen Carol with Cate Blanchett? Looks good.

I bought Saving Face on DVD when I was a teenager and I would hide it in my room so my mum wouldn't find it - this was before she knew about me. So glad I don't need to worry about that kind of stuff any more. I used to have a crush on the lady in that film... I think her name is Michelle Krusiec.

Saving Face looks interesting, it's on my list now.

Anyone seen I Can't Think Straight (2008) & is it any good? I can't always tell with more recent films which are normalizing & which are cashing in on a societal normalizing (ie they aren't made with much actual understanding or knowledge).

Compared to 'lesbian' porn, pretty much anything is.

A couple of months ago, I watched Pariah (2011) on Netflix. It's about a black lesbian teen living in New York City who spends the majority of the film hiding her sexuality from her strict religious mother. It's pretty heavy and kind of intense, but it's definitely the best LGBT-themed movie I've seen, and the fact that it revolved around black characters was a plus in my book because the majority of LGBT-themed media are super white.

I enjoyed that movie the first time I watched it, but I found it cheesy the second time I watched it for some reason.

A top five list in no particular order...

Birdcage
Wong Foo
In and Out
Rocky Horror
Finally, on a more serious note: Mysterious Skin

Does anyone here know of any good, solid lesbian animes without any sex or yuck involved?

I recently saw Blue is the Warmest Colour. It had such great reviews. The girls in it were quite hot, and i was engaged, but the sex scenes put me off, does anyone ever really scissor anyway?!

Hahaha the scissor scene!

I found it a rather irritating movie, because I found the main character's mouth movements gross, e.g. when she ate or kissed. And there weren't really any likable characters...all the females had questionable morals.

My favourite is Imagine Me & You. Kissing Jessica Stein is a bit of fun as well.
