Just remembered the Spanish comedy Chuecatown (Boys Town). Muy funny!

I really liked that film when I was younger (ain't seen it in a while). I thought they were just friends in it.

Torch Song Trilogy is hands down the best LGBT movie I've ever seen and probably one of the best movies I've seen period. I love Jeffrey and Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Show Me Love, but TST has its own gravity.

Most of my favorites have been mentioned already so I won't rehash what's been said, but my all time favorite movie (gay or not) ever hasn't come up yet:

Saving Face (2004).

Perhaps it's just because I identify with the main character (in that I am shy/awkward and have a thing for dancers), but I find it the most adorable romantic story ever. I like that it falls somewhere in between being a "gay movie" and a movie with gay characters, because you could just as easily classify it as a movie about intergenerational relationships in Chinese-American families.

Also, if you're into Christmas movies, Making the Yuletide Gay is cheesy but actually pretty good.

Already mentioned but still gets a favourite vote: Ma Vie en Rose (France, 1997)

Honourable mention:
Different for Girls (UK, 1996)
XXY (not strictly LGBT, but you'll be able to relate anyway; Argentina, 2007)

Beautiful Thing - I liked this movie, cool music, cute boys. Wish I had a gay friend growing up!

Total Eclipse - I mean come on, Leonardo DiCaprio nude, having gay sex... this movie rocks.

Trevor - A short and sweet movie about being young and gay.

Welcome to Wrong Planet AspieRoss!

Beautiful Thing is also one of my top films. I listened to lots of Mama Cass after I saw it. :)

It's funny, but most gay guys like your typical gay stereotype female singer, like Madonna/gaga, etc.
I seem to only like the outcasts, like Mama Cass, or Crissy Hynde (The Pretenders).

If you haven't seen "Total Eclipse", at least check it out.
It's basically the love story between Arthur Rimaud and Paul Verlaine.

I saw Beautiful Thing as a play before I watched the movie and absolutely loved it, so the movie has always felt ... paler by comparison, but I do like it.

One overlooked gem that's really stuck with me is Chiang Hsiu-chiung's Artemisia (info here and here). It was a low-budget production that was made for TV and I wasn't really expecting much, but it turned out to be surprisingly good (I later found out that she'd worked under the late, great Edward Yang and Hou Hsiao-hsien; in that context it makes a lot more sense). If anyone wants to see it and can't track it down let me know and I can point you in the right direction.

Based on what I've read, I'm also really looking forward to watching Andrew Haigh's Weekend, but given my country's draconian censors I'll probably only get to see it once the Bluray comes out next year.

Eytan Fox's Yossi & Jagger. His other work is apparently good too; I've been meaning to watch for a while.
