someone said we don't conform to normal social expectations of sexuality...I think that's interesting because I came out of the closet when I was 14, in a small town... in Ohio. I saw no reason to try to hide it...I'm one of the only gay people I know who came out that early. I never even thought that it could be because of asperger's.

I denied my homosexuality deeply, despite my AS, and became obsessed with telling myself I wasn't gay. Simply because of society's expectations. As a 12-13 year old I was aware of how extremely negative homosexuality was seen and that no other kids my age would accept me as gay but rather see me as disgusting. Then, when I was 16 I felt I couldn't deny it any longer and for my own sake I accepted it and told a few friends. I've never had any self-hating feelings because of being gay ever since.

Hello world.

I'm mostly attracted to other boys. I think boys are cute, but some girls are kind of cute too. I like to hug and cuddle, but I'm asexual at the moment.

Happy face :)

I feel like I should say something else at this point, but I can't really think of anything.

Hello Doug, I'm an Andrew. I've met many Andrews in the past.

Are you a Douglas?

Hi Andrew.

Yes I am, most people call me Doug but I do answer to Douglas, though really only my parents call me that.

My middle name is Andrew though!

I'm gay....I've been trying to have a real relationship with a guy but I'm having trouble. I've only had a series of short term relationships ( the longest lasting 3 months) At first I thought this was a gay thing but I know plenty of guys who have been together for years. I just can't figure out how to have a long term relationship....I think I'm just gonna give up on it. My interests can be my long term relationships. Me and video games have been dating for 15 years.

Well, I have had zero. Long- or short-term. So you are still ahead of me. ;) (Not that I have ever really tried mind you.)

But you're right that it's not a gay thing, lots of straight people also have this trouble.

Long term relationships are hard, period. It's not just a gay thing, though the gay scene may make it even harder. It just takes time and luck, and giving up certainly doesn't make it happen. You may need to take a break from relationships - I think everyone needs that at some time. And, in all honesty, we all have to accept that we may not find somebody who fits us. But it's still worth a try, I think, if it's what you want.

I've always had an affinity to other Andrews.

In High school I used to stare at an Andrew. I started staring when he was kind of ugly and had big ears, then he grew into a really nice looking lad. I'm still stuck a little boy. In college I have a secret crush on every boy that I see. It's lame, but sadly true.

I express my jealousy to all those that have had been in relationships.

I think most girls are pretty because they have pretty clothes and different hairstyles, oh and makeup. I think boys are cute and they look natural and fresh.

What's the ideal image of a boy that you want to be with (or be)?

That's an interesting question.

Someone I find physically attractive (obviously).
Someone who is intelligent, and I can have intelligent conversations with.
Someone who is polite and thoughtful.
Someone who will support me when I need it (as I would support him).
Someone who will accept me for who I am and not insist I become "normal" or conform to a stereotype.
Someone who will be honest with me, and I can be honest with in return.
Someone who is (relatively) quiet, not the loud party type.

I'm actually really sexual, in the kind of way Oscar Wilde described when he wrote about how he enjoyed sex with the filthy working class. I'm a pervert, really and even though I'm looking for a relationship, my sexual desires are not so full of affection. For me to truly have a working sex life in a relationship we would have to understand each other's needs perfectly and just integrate them as a part of the relationship.
