I'm worried that people will find out about me.

Eye Contact, Acting up, Clothing

I dont quite understand why some people need to be so... well.. gay, that's what I mean by acting up. Gestures and sayings, the stereotypical stuff.

edit: just noticed you're a female and I guess the same rules do not really apply in full sense, though of course, obviously some does.

I'm quite sure someone else can help u a little better on this one because the only way for me to recognize a lesbian (if you leave out the stereotypical) is to see em kissing and that doesnt even rule out the fact they might be straight.

anyway, my advice to you, Be Natural. Don't be ashamed to be gay, but do not advertise it either.

I don't think people can. I know I'm not gay and yet every time I meet someone that's the first question they ask me.

Idiot: Hey dude are you gay?
Me: No
Idiot: Then what's your favorite part of women?
Me: Seriously, I still don't know how to respond to that.

In general I find for girls its a lot harder to tell since the "tomboy" is acceptable to an extent. I think people will generally think your gay if for 1 they see you doing something with another girl, or you look and/or act extremely tomboyish, superficially it'll be mostly looks. Like if you try to look and dress like a guy then people will normally assume ur lesbian.

http://www.miloop.se/film_view.aspx?mm=5&movie=2433

there's some NSFW stuff on this site though (the replies for the vid, not the vid itself), which um...subtracts from the joke i'm currently making. but i can't find a good quality or english youtube vid. oh well.

seriously though i donno. people pay too much to gay stereotypes so if you don't "act" gay, there's a less chance of people thinking you're gay.

that's what i'm guessing anyways but i might be totally wrong. i donno if i "act" gay or not. i just be myself. some people probably guess it but if they do they don't say anything. i don't care if they know. there's nothing wrong with it, so why would i try to hide it? that's what i can suggest. just be yourself and if people wonder, let them wonder.

I can't say that's something I've ever thought about. Honestly, I'd prefer it if people could just figure out I was gay for themselves. It would save some of the awkwardness that will result when I finally get around to coming out to friends.

I don't know. But I suspect there are more people who think they can tell than who can actually tell. IOW, that the accusations are "shotgunned" and there are lots of false positives.

You can't unless someone tells you they are. However, deviating from the norm for your assumed gender or not dating anyone or for women, not caring what men think of them, can all cause the narrow-minded to think someone is gay, even when they're not. Truthfully, not a lot you can do about that. Other than try and get independent and move somewhere where it won't matter if you're gay or not.

People can assume that you're gay if you dress a certain way or with you act a certain way. I've learned for example that it's ''gay'' for a woman to assemble some piece of electronic herself instead of waiting for a man to do it for her.
I'm pretty sure that something like 90 % of all the people I meet thing I'm gay (and they're wrong) but I'm not going to stop being myself just to please society. If you don't want some people to know you're gay, then don't tell them. Keep them wondering.

It's not with me. Not infallible but it's generally right.
Others have come to the same conclusion using the same 'system' on me. (and no; none of these involved the limp-wristed, mincing types  )

You can and I have.

Gaydar is real, they've done studies where 70 percent of the gays were identified correctly with a panel of viewers watching them talk on a pre-recorded tape. However, there's still 30 percent that's never going to be suspected as gay.

Beats the hell out of me. I'm just lucky that women are less likely to get violent when I screw up.

Seriously, I could use, like, a seeing-gay dog when I go out.
Dog: *points and goes woof*
Me: "Really? She's hitting on me?"
Dog: *exasperated woof*

That's what I'm wondering right now...

I confessed to my friend that I liked her and she told me she was able to tell (she knew I was gay).

Yeah it is, my sisters gay and its pretty obvious with her "looks" mainly cause she looks like a guy(an effeminate guy), a guy none the less. With lesbians many people find it a lot harder, and I think people are less like to jokingly brand the "lesbian" label on girls whereas many guys get jokingly or not so jokingly branded as gay. But people are often wrong, like I was pretty positive that 1 of my friends is gay and I was wrong. In the back of my head I still think hes at least bisexual.
