I identify as bisexual, and I am also the monogamous type. The idea of eventually having to choose just one sex to be with drives a bit crazy sometimes. Can anyone else relate?

There's no need to choose the sex of the person, as you'll fall in love and your choice in the matter will be taken away. Whether they're male or female will depend only on what gender that particular person happens to be. That's unless you do decide that you're going to narrow it down, first of all. Personally, I wouldn't do that, as you might miss out on the right person.

I've been in a monogamous relationship for 23 years and never once strayed or even considered it. I can honestly say that I only find one person in this world attractive, in a romantic way, and I don't even think about any other people like that. I appreciate beauty and nice personalities, but I've never had the urge to get closer. The fact that my relationship is with a man is circumstantial and I would have been in a relationship like this with a woman, had the same person been female. The only difference would have been that I would still have wanted to become a mother, so we'd have had to come to some sort of arrangement on that.

It's a bit weird to think of it as choosing one sex for the rest of your life. You never know what can happen with relationships. It could last a year or it could last 30 years. But nothing is certain, so it's strange to just write off an experience/group of people for eternity.

Just, y'know find someone awesome, stay with them while you both make one another happy. If you're no longer making one another happy, then go your separate ways. If your fluctuating interest in sex/gender is a factor in that than so-be-it. Just enjoy yourself.

I think the problem is being afraid of picking someone of one sex, and never getting to be with someone of the other sex afterwards. I totally share this apprehension. The choice will be whether it is worth it. I think it possible, if not probable, that you will eventually find someone amazing enough to make it worth it. I have been with my boyfriend for two years, and am still not resentful that I have missed out on women in that time.

It is, in essence, the same choice that every person, of every sexual orientation, takes when deciding to embark on a closed, monogamous relationship. We all choose to forego the opportunity to have sexual realtionships with other people when we choose to have a relationship with only one person.

The choice for a bisexual might appear to be more dramatic--but that is only a superficial view. There is no man who has all of the characteristics that I find attractive in men. I feel quite certain that any heterosexual man woul dsay the same about women.

But many of us reach a point where we can make the positive, affirmative choice: This is the person that I want to make a life with.

You're not foregoing the chance to have sex with others when you do that; you are affirming your intention to build an exclusive relationship with this person.

I know how you feel. Some days I'm more into women, other days I'm more into men. I'm afraid that if I go out with someone of one sex, they won't be understanding towards my attraction towards the other sex.

You can't choose who you fall in love with, but you can choose to be loyal to that person. (Male or female) :)

Ironically, I found the perfect solution (for me anyway :) ). My partner is a pre-op transsexual. I am female and my partner is a male to female transsexual on HRT (but unable to have surgery due to medical complications). For me there is definitely a God out there, coz he/she answered my prayer :) Tanya is perfect in every way to me. In all honesty though, I love her for who she is, not for her gender.

I plan on dating both sexes, at the same time or singularly. Of course I'm always upfront about my sexuality with women and suprisngly most of them dont have a problem with it. (Although this has all been online like in chat rooms and not RL so I dont know if it would be true then but I hope so.) Hell, Threesomes are possible if the girl I'm dating gets off on two guys doing it. And of course if she wanted a Girlfriend I wouldnt be the jelouse type.

I say, Do whatever woks for you. :)

Yeah, but you shouldn't feel you have to choose just one sex. Being bisexual just means you feel attracted to both sexes. It's basically your feelings, not your actions that determine your sexual orientation.
