I try to be myself every chance I get. I hate being someone else. But it is very hard, as a boy, I was told that I had to do certain things, such as wear pants, play sports, or pee on a tree in the forest in order to be a true guy. Now, as a girl, I am told that I need to wear make-up fashionable clothing, and not pick up dead bugs off the floor with my bare hands in order to be a true woman.

I feel like a female, and that's who I am going to be, but why can't I be myself as well? Is it really that much against the "social rule book" to be yourself?

So what if I wear unfashionable clothes, like wearing a granny dress with a boys coat and crocs, and so what if I hate sports, or can't stand make-up. It is my life, shouldn't I, of all people, have a say in how it is going to be?

Makes me think that I should start telling people I am "gender neutral" again... you get rid of all the stereotypes people try to force you into.

I have my own box thankyou! I guess this feeling is normal for keplians...

I'd say just try to be what you want to be and that's all. People just don't dare to break social rules but if we would we could finally change society to get more acceptance and tolerance. People are used to please others more than themselves and that forces them to act stereotypical. Don't please society, please yourself because that's where you find happiness and contentment.
It's not easy to be yourself in a society that forces people to fit in. People throw rocks at things that shine.

iceveela, do what makes you happy. wear what you want to wear and pick up dead bugs with your bare hands. In the end, would you rather others be satisfied with your life or YOU be satisfied with your life? If you get an odd look or comment...so what, it's their problem for being closed minded and superficial.

make yourself happy.

I know right? People think I have to be a certain way too because I'm pretty masculine. Of course, they either freak out because I'm like a guy or they can't wrap their heads around the fact that if I AM a guy, i'm a NERD guy. NOT the one that plays sports. NOT the one that likes to fight (though I DO like swordfighting :D ) I mean the kind that spends his day playing video games, watches sci-fi movies, is a fan of zombies, and can quote Carl Sagan!! !

I love being myself, for the most part.
I do have things I wish to improve on though, such as my social awkwardness.

I have seen your posts before Iceveela and you seem like a nice person. Keep doing what makes you happy. Its your life and if other people don't approve of the way you are then its their issue.

say it like you mean it, iceveela.

I'm a straight male, but I don't even like sports.

Like everyone else said, do what makes you feel happy.

One thing I dislike is color sterotypes, as in certain colors being girly or what not, such as purple, one of my favorite colors. Same with certain ways of moving, sitting, etc. such as sitting with your legs under you.

Yeah, how do you know your real self?

I don't think there is such a thing as a real core, you just try to find what suits you best.

I am still looking. ^^

The first line that you put I think is your problem in knowing what it is like to be who you truly are. When you are yourself you aren't trying to be anyone, you just are.
