Considering the sort of people I hang out with, the fact that I am only out to a few of them, and the fact that I am shy about sexuality in general, I've never encountered this myself. But I'd certainly believe it. And I do sort of see this in society in general in how it is considered normal for a man to talk about his wife/girlfriend while it is considered a statement for a man to talk about his husband/boyfriend (or how it's normal for a woman to talk about her husband/boyfriend but not about her wife/girlfriend--I don't want to be sexist, I just think of the male situation first since it's the one that applies to me).

YES. And frequently prefaced with "I'm not a homophobe, but ...".

In the majority of my experience with hetero's complaining about 'non-heteros', a dry, closemouthed, second-and-a-half, 'good-bye-I'm-going-to-work-now' peck of a kiss BRINGS UP THE ABOVE PICTURES/VISUALIZATIONS in the heteros' minds --- AND the resultant scorn/disgust/put-upon attitudes.

Yes, there very typically is a double standard with heteros reacting WAY out of proportion to what I (and my 'sisters'/'brothers') have done in viewing. Rather pathetic that it's really their OWN mind-pictures such hetero's are reacting to.

Sometimes even a hug will set people off. I am weird about being touched and touching. But the people I feel safe with I will hug. Some of the guys aren't gay but when I see how others watchingreact to he hug I freak out.
