Came out but struggling
So I am a lesbian. I came out over a month ago officially. I've always known but I was brought up as a Catholic and therefore taught to hate what was going on with my mind and body. My friend also recently came out, she had the same problem as we went to the same school. My problem is I really want to meet someone, but I want that person to be someone special, not just for sex and stuff. Around here the only way to meet other lesbians seems to be the local gay pubs or clubs. I hate drinking, clubbing, drunks etc. I'm too old fashioned for internet dating as well! How can I meet someone special without deliberately searching for them? It's not like lesbians wear a great big sign on their head! Round here, asking a straight woman out by mistake could get you stabbed
but then again so can looking at someone the 'wrong way' walking into the 'wrong neighbourhood', doing absolutely nothing but some random druggy decides you are their victim... not a great place to live to be honest!

I don't like pubs and clubs either, congratulations by the way, how about other activities?
I've found this page which has a list of groups near you. It's great you have your friend for company, you could go to a meeting together.
