Thanks! :D
I have to say, it wasn't easy for me to come this far, because in my area were I live hardly anyone has experience in ASD, so they mostly didn't believe anyone could have this combination. 8O
And also the guidlines in my country for being "Transsexual" are very strict with operation and so on...!
So it was a struggle for years...!
I found my solutions. ;)

But I'm glad that I did it and that I'm mostly through.
I still need my name change, but I'm working on that and it's looking good.

Best of luck, hope it goes well. I had all the usual worries leading up to my bottom surgery but when the day came I was oddly serene.

Shame you had a tough time convincing people that you can have an ASD and be trans. I've never seen any actual statistics but I wouldn't be surprised to find that people on the spectrum were more likely than the general population to be trans.

Yeah that is my problem too. It seems like they all are ignorant about ASD and Trans people around here. Plus with having ASD and being trans, they tend to think oh she is just crazy or whatever. Maybe I am just being paranoid saying that...but somehow I think someone would say it. I just started with a new therapist and gonna work on all that. I feel like I am going nuts by not transitioning. Not sure how the family will deal. Hopefully they will understand, but it's difficult because I can't work. So money is an issue too. Not fun stuff. I guess we all have our struggles and I am glad you are overcoming yours!

Actually there are some:
Autism spectrum disorders in gender dysphoric children and adolescents.

"Only case reports have described the co-occurrence of gender identity disorder (GID) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD). This study examined this co-occurrence using a systematic approach. Children and adolescents (115 boys and 89 girls, mean age 10.8, SD = 3.58) referred to a gender identity clinic received a standardized assessment during which a GID diagnosis was made and ASD suspected cases were identified. The Dutch version of the Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (10th rev., DISCO-10) was administered to ascertain ASD classifications. The incidence of ASD in this sample of children and adolescents was 7.8% (n = 16). Clinicians should be aware of co-occurring ASD and GID and the challenges it generates in clinical management."

And a longer thing, but more about FtM and ASD:
Brief Report: Female-To-Male Transsexual People and Autistic Traits

Interesting, thanks. I wish more of the medical community would start using terms like 'assigned male at birth' rather than referring to a group of kids, many of whom probably identify as girls as 'boys'. It makes my brain hurt.

I'm so happy to find a website that encompasses all my oddities: Aspergers, genderqueer, attracted to females, married to a man, asexual :)
All the best for the op raziel!

Good luck! I transitioned a long time ago, but I can still remember how great it felt to have a flat chest again. I hope you recover quickly.

Sorry to hear you've had difficulties. In my case, my ASD wasn't detected until some years after I transitioned, and while I wish it had been diagnosed earlier, that may have been a good thing in terms of complicating my transition. Yes, there is a far higher incidence of GID in ASD people than in the general population. My gender specialist had a leaflet about one of the studies, which IIRC had found that the incidence was 20x higher than would be expected in a random group. I would say that qualifies it as a reasonably common comorbid. Not to mention, closer to home, there are a LOT of trans people on WP, far more than you would expect to come across on a forum about another subject.

Good luck!

My advice: assume you'll be totally immobile for at least two weeks after. It'll be boring, but you will try to do more than you can too soon.
Also, massage the scars as soon as you're able with moisturiser or scar cream.

Oh yes, speaking of scars - if they sell it in your country, look for a product called bio-oil. It is fantastic for improving the appearance of scarring (even years after the scar was formed). If you can't get hold of that, cocoa butter is good too. :)
