I need to leave my state, because of how bad it is to LGBT people, especially the T.

Too bad no opportunities are elsewhere. My uncle, who lives in the infinitely better California, would not accept me unless I had a job first. But a job is something that at the moment I can barely even do due to my declining mental health. I'm stuck working 16 hours a week now. I might just have to crash in my uncle's place with $500 from my retirement account for first month rent. Here you go, uncle. Take it or leave it.

Tennessee. It's like one of the worst. We're the state that hosted State Rep. "Flush" Floyd who threatened physical violence against trans woman, but got reelected to the legislature.

What about Nashville or Memphis? I know they are not necessarily liberal meccas but bigger cities tend to be more accepting of difference, even in the south. Louisville, KY has a large LGBT community. I am sure you would find a place to belong there.

I live in Memphis. The city is largely powerless, only able to protect LGBT rights for city employees, because the state made it where municipalities can't pass laws prohibiting LGBT discrimination for private employers, even city contractors.

I work for a half-decent company, but it's not getting me where I need and they are still lacking in many areas, and I still feel the weight of the state, like how all the plans on the exchange exclude transition-related care.

My motivation has been going through the floor as I fight with insurance over covering SRS and my company forces me to use a unisex bathroom that is locked half the time, with people taking their time in there.

I wish you well on your journey. Which states are friendly to sexual minorities? Have you done any research about where you would want to live?

I think Cleveland Ohio and Buffalo NY have a pretty active trans groups. We are in northwest PA (so close) and while there are problems it is getting better all the time. Heck in the county next to us it is illegal to refuse someone access to bathrooms that match their presenting gender
