A bit of a backstory I was part of a role playing group online of which the leader was ftm. Now the problem begins when one of the members starts outright refusing to call him a male and using transphobic and homophobic slurs and making it nearly impossible for us to talk about anything since it seemed like everything 'triggered' them. Finally everyone had enough of dealing with this and we made the decision to remove them from the group.

Now the strange part is I found the banned person's tumblr and a few months after they were removed they began reblogging almost exclusively trans positive posts and came out as being ftm as well and has begun hormone therapy.

I don't know I'm happy for this person if this makes them happy but at the same time I just can't shake the feeling that something seems odd about this person coming out as trans after being so terrible for someone else in the community so I was just wondering what you guys might think?

I can think of a couple possible theories.
First is the possibility that they were struggling with their self-perception at the time of the game and may have lashed out because of that.
Second is the possibility that they were roleplaying a character radically different from their usual personality and they took it too far. Personally, I've played racist characters in the past, but I'm careful to let the others know that it's an act. This person could have forgot to do that.

Granted, there are other possibilities, but I'm trying to give this person the benefit of the doubt.

Well, some people do, I think, try to cope by distancing themselves... how to phrase this. He didn't want to acknowledge his masculinity, and thus rejected anything to do with it, which included other FtM individuals. Sort of.

Another idea:
They could have had their account hacked.

Another idea:
Some people on the internet are trolls.
