Yes & no.
I find it's very easy to find a casual hookup/fwb.. but difficult to find someone I'd like to actually have a relationship with that feels mutual about it. Many guys have wanted to date me, but I haven't been interested in them. I guess I'm very picky lol. Ah well, in time I'll meet the right guy.
But yeah, I can relate to sometimes spending too much time pursuing hookups/dates/chatting online vs. getting something, anything, more productive done in life lol. Ah well, in so many ways it's my entertainment.. rather do that than watch tv or movies or play video games etc. Plus there's the chance that I might just meet someone who's right for me, so it's kinda worth doing. Sometimes I take a break from it all and just work tons of hours, visit friends and family, go for an exhausting run etc for weeks on end.. then I'll hop back on a few gay sites and see who's around to chat with & maybe meet - each time being a little pickier than before, aiming for quality of match vs. quantity/convenience.
I'm fortunate to be in the Vancouver area with a large gay population. I've never been into "the scene," but that'd a whole avenue of potentially meeting someone to explore should I ever feel like heading to the gay district and hanging out in gay bars and the like vs. chatting online.. but I find the online thing to be quite easy and effective & I'm not really into the more flamboyant types that congregate at gay bars for the most part.
