As some of you might have already guessed, I'm a transgender (male-to-female to be exact) and I sincerely need some help in finding some courage to not only tell my parents I identify myself as a girl but also how to deal with transphobia (transgender hate). Any advice that would help me figure out if I am truly a transgender will also be appreciated.

Honestly I find it unfair that all the Female-to-Male transgenders (and tomboy girls) can get away with dressing up like a guy in public while us guys who dress up like a girl in public get all the beating from cold, cruel and calculating Christian communities.

Please help me however you can.

Hello!

I highly recommend you repost this topic on asexuality.org in the Gender Discussion forum. ( I'd send you a link but I can't because I'm new here.)
Even if you're not asexual, as a lot of people talk about different gender identities including transgender. The people on the forum are very active and helpful too. I've even met some other people with Asperger's on there, so don't be afraid!

I know what you mean about how females can get away easily with dressing like men...I'm one of them and I sometimes think how much harder it would be if I was a man who wanted to dress as a woman. I think people just need to learn to be more open minded. I certainly don't care how other people dress or what gender they decide to present as. I hope nothing I'm saying seems offensive....I identity as agender and don't know much about being Transgender. I did consider if I was transgender at one point but I never really felt the need to physically change myself, so I guess I'm not. Just wearing men's clothes is enough for me.

My advice would probably be, to only come out to your family if you think it's safe too. If you think they'll react badly then maybe it's best to keep it to yourself until you feel more comfortable about telling them. I haven't told my family about my asexuality or my gender identity...and I don't think I need too. They don't really seem to care how I dress.

Anyway, check out the AVEN forums. I'm sure someone who is more understanding will be able to help you out.

Good luck! ^w^

Is there a gay district or community where you're from?

I bet you'd learn a lot about self expression, self acceptance, and freely being yourself however that may be by immersing yourself into a crowd of diverse, open, LGBT people.

As a gay man, I'm not in your shoes, but I have spent some time hanging out with a diverse range of wonderful people at parties, edm shows, beaches, a couple drag shows etc and I think if you spent some time around people like the ones I've met in Vancouver's gay scene you'd learn a LOT about all of these things right quick vs trying to figure these things out on your own while having to be closeted about it all.

If there isn't a big diverse open accepting gay scene where you live.. make it a goal to travel. IMO, the experience would be worth it.

If you were my child, I wouldn't be ashamed of you, but I would worry for your safety. I hope that when you decide to come out, you make sure you protect yourself and be aware of people who may want to hurt you because your lifestyle offends them.

I know that LGBT people have a history of being attacked by those that are prejudiced, and if my child came out to me, that would be my major concern.

^^^Oh, she's adorable! :) There's a lovely pink dress that would suit her [I can't remember what city it's in.]
The great thing is, you can change your character's hair and eye colour once you get to Luminose City [make sure to download the internet patch to fix the game breaking glitch before you get there!]

Oh, and there's bad news about Foleo. Either I was totally wrong, or she was censored in the NA version of Fates to become a cross-dressing boy...*shrug*

Love yourself and express yourself as you feel most comfortable, as you feel you were meant to be.
Then you'll also be able to express your love for the world, and the world will be better for it.

Thank you for the motivation!  Although I feel as if I am constantly surrounded in a shroud of fear and doubt with questions like: "Is this really necessary?" "Am I wasting the time of my life with this?" "Would I have less risk of committing suicide if I just get used to being a guy?" ect. When in my heart I know all those questions aren't really what's important, rather it's knowing the fact that, in my heart, I am still and will always be a girl.

It seems like whenever I "make up my mind" to being a guy, my heart just drags me back to being a girl no matter how many "facts" and "realistic things" I bring up to myself. And strangely enough I feel good about it! :D

Thank you once again for the wonderful motivation! :)

That would obviously depend on what country or U.S. state you're talking about. If it's the south, then yes, it is dangerous to be a transgender/crossdresser. However I'm starting to see no need to worry so much about "how 'people' might react" so long as you know where you are.

With a brave heart and a clever mind, no obstacle is impossible!
