Apparently there are many conflicting things said in the bible, enough for people to pick and choose what they think God says.
Yes indeed. "That" verse, the one used as a club to beat us with, is likely badly translated anyway.
And what about these - why do we never hear about
them?
Exodus 21:7 Sanctions the selling of a daughter into slavery.
Exodus 35:2 States that those who work on the Sabbath should be put to death.
Lev 11:6-8 Touching a dead hare or pig makes that person unclean.
Lev 11:10 Eating shellfish is an abomination (it's unclear if this is a greater or lesser abomination than homosexuality)
Lev 15:19-24 Contact with a menstruating woman is forbidden.
Lev 19:19 Forbids the planting of two different crops in the same field, and the wearing of clothes made from different threads.
Lev 19:27 Forbids men from trimming certain hair on the head.
Lev 20 Forbids those with a sight defect from approaching an altar.
Lev 20:14 Those who sleep with their in-laws must be burned. Both of them.
Lev 24:10-16 Those who blaspheme the name of the lord must be stoned to death.
Lev 25:44 It's Ok to own slaves, provided they're purchased from neighbouring nations.
Source? The Bible.
If people are going to bang on about the so-called word of God they really ought to be consistent about it and not cherry-pick whatever suits their particular agenda.
Otherwise they'll have to be stoned to death.
