What do you consider the most overrated song?

I say "My Humps" is one of the most overrated songs I have ever heard.
Closely followed by "SexyBack."

"November Rain" by Guns n Roses comes immediately to mind.

That song makes my ears bleed a little every time I hear it.

"Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira. I have no idea how that song ever got to be a hit. I read the lyrics online once, and they made no sense whatsoever. Just plain dumb.

Also, anything by Gwen Stefani. Never saw the big deal about her.

"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Greenday

"The Reason" by Hoobastank

"Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence (though some of their other songs are phenomenal)

"Crank That (Soulja Boy)" by Soulja Boy Tell 'Em

"Dragostea din Tea" by O-Zone (though I admit to being obsessed with it for a time)

I liked Gwen Stefani for a time because her music was good for my stim.

Anything played on commercial radio...

I think ALL RAP IS OVERRATED! My friends have taught me certain listening techniques to make it endurable, but they don't understand. Music isn't supposed to be endurable: It's supposed to be ENJOYABLE! (My ongoing friendship with them depends on them not knowing I wrote this.)

Overrated to whom is the question? Personally I would say most things R&B, and a lot of alternative/modern rock music.. where personal image seems to play the greatest role.

I would definitely not just answer anything "pop", as that tends to be more of a reflection on the majority of individuals who enjoy musical simplicity, and whom would probably not care enough about it to even enter into such a debate.

"Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers- I feel nacious everytime I hear it. I don't knwo if the two are related but the first time I ever heard the song, I was sick and vomited. I don't genarly like music on when I'm sick in the car.

"Looks like we made it" by Shania Twain- I can "see" music in color, and this is a sickly shade of sticky blood red. Plus it gives me a headache whenever I hear it.

I think some peoples' nets are being cast a little wide here. Saying that anything being played on commercial radio sucks is a tiny bit ridiculous. The Beatles were played on commercial radio, and still are, and most people would say they were the greatest in history.

I'll be captain obvious and say Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven".
"Stan" by Eminem is also wildly overrated, at least by those who have little to no interest in rap anyway.
Most of the songs mentioned in this thread aren't overated, just very popular.

Most electronic music is overrated.
