It sounds cool, I've always liked the idea of Post-Apocalyptic Novels
Me too.
I must confess that when spudnik asked me if I was doing part 2 of Waterworld, I told the literal truth: No, I wasn't doing a sequel to Waterworld.
However, this is a post-global flooding book. However, there are a number of tenents I have put down:
*The global flooding is not as high (and unrealistic) as it is in the film. However, sea levels are at their highest since the Ordovician Era, about between 450 and 500 millions years ago. Dry land is a scarce commodity, but enough of it exists so that people live, more or less comfortably, on the islands that remain. If you're wondering about overpopulation, you will have to read my book....
*This is a science fantasy book, but one grounded firmly in reality. In fact, instead of being
Waterworld, I chose something that is more like a mix of
Evangelion,
Firefly, and
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
*Technology still exists, and the ability to make it and maintain it still exists. However, some, like genetic manipulation, is forbidden, and others, like wormhole technology, is legendary.
*Means of creating substitute resources for things such as paper and oil exist, so there aren't as many shortages as one will expect.
*The cause of global flooding is not what would be expected.
*My main characters are not heroes. You could call them adventurers, but they all have their own weaknesses and neuroses, and they are slow to act against their foe, partly because they do not know of that foe's existence.
