that and it might be surprising. if the surprise is gone and they can mentally 'prepare' for it and it's not a surprise out of nowhere...

depends on the stuff. but yah you're right..

It would be fun to come up with AS or ASD related band names too. Like The Autistics, Autistic Youth, Vipera Aspis, The Stims, The Little Professors, Code 299.80 or DX 299.80, The Autists, Autistry, Autistocracy, Hyperlexia, Hyperlexic, Synesthesia . . .

Does anyone have other ideas for ASD related band names?

Eh, Gary Numan?

Not sure if I'm doing it right here.

This would be great. We can rehearse quietly and play our gigs not-too-loud and with proper sound balance and not use that monitor that crackles because that drives me NUTS. When are tryouts, anyway?

I'd go see this:

Morrissey - vocals
Thom Yorke - rhythm guitar
Craig Nicholls - lead guitar
Gary Numan - keyboards
Jah Wobble - bass

Beats by "Echo", the rhythm box

Managed by Lou Reed.

Can't think of a particular drummer - though alot of drummers seem quiet and shush and aspie. Ish.

Tryouts will be held online so we don't have to deal with meeting lots of people. Band members will be selected through a detailed and thorough analysis of the mp3's they submit. After decisions have been made, we'll take six months to get used to the idea of each other before we actually meet in person and have our first rehearsal (which will follow a detailed itinerary drafted during the six months).

*This is a joke.*

I'd be down for doing vocals for a band. I'm mostly interested in doing something in between classic rock and punk. I live in MA.

No.

No (See reasons below).

In what ways do you think an all aspie band would differ from a typical band?

Reasons:
No light shows - no bright, flashing lights.
No loud sounds - no explosions, amplifiers, or drums solos.
No crowds - no one within touching distance.
No odd smells - no food, smoke, or B.O.
Incoherent lyrics - lots of mumbling and crying, lots of rambling freeverse.
Uncoordinated dancing - jerky, flailing, shuffling, or no movement at all.

... all punctuated by random meltdowns and freeze-ups of performers and audience members.

Wow Fnord. Way to be a judgmental prick. A troll actually. I'll bite.
This is why I hate all NT bands: (i.e. bands that as a whole are very Neurotypical in behavior)

-banal lyrics, like some boring person is talking to you, no poetry, no beauty, just small talk.
-too image conscious, which takes away from the pureness of the music.
-generic-ness in melodic and harmonic content, no uniqueness, just a bland derivative of what's deemed popular.
-I want to see a music show, I do NOT want a dance recital, or a mindless laser/light show.
-drunken idiots in the crowd who keep yelling during what they perceive to be the "cool" bits of songs.
-etc.

all punctuated by girls throwing their panties at the lead singer who is not even giving a good performance he's so
concentrated on being "sexy" to the girlies.

Blech.

It would really depend on how severe each of the members condition of Asperger's would be.

Me, personally I've played in a band with no earplugs and enjoyed every minute on it. (Drums).

And If I could sing, my lyrics for an album that I've wrote basically say how crap most of the world has become.

Just need decent arrangements. :)
