This kind of extreme processing makes sound events unatural.
Eq is designed to shape a sound to blend with other instruments in a mix, or remove any unwanted frequencies etc. Eq is at its basic level a fine volume control.
That's pretty much what I did with that mix we talked about a week or so ago - put multiple parametric EQ's on all the sounds (sometimes more than 5 even
), used them to sculpt my sound rather than the filters, and pretty much proceeded to Kentucky-fry my mix.
