Hi all! I took the advice in another Music thread of someone who said I should start a website to promote my music.
Well, here it is: http://www.inspiringopera.com. It's still being improved, but the 13 music samples are there already. My wife will be adding artwork as we go, and there will be a donation center as well, toward mounting my operas' live premier performances.

Nice one Xelebes. I think I figured out what I did to that track I posted earlier. Came across this from Raiden at the Offkey forums:

If your cutting or boosting any sound more than +/- 6db then you are doing something very wrong.

may i ask why? just to know why Smiley

This kind of extreme processing makes sound events unatural.

Eq is designed to shape a sound to blend with other instruments in a mix, or remove any unwanted frequencies etc. Eq is at its basic level a fine volume control.

That's pretty much what I did with that mix we talked about a week or so ago - put multiple parametric EQ's on all the sounds (sometimes more than 5 even :x ), used them to sculpt my sound rather than the filters, and pretty much proceeded to Kentucky-fry my mix.

Tip: only cut with Parametric EQs. Boosting creates more problems than it fixes. Only use deep cuts (notches) when being followed up by a digital overdrive. Even then, only do that in higher frequencies (>1.5 kHz) so that you make that digital overdrive sound warmer and creamier. The notch should be narrow.

This is something I learned just recently in my attempts to warm up Fruity Blood Overdrive and using it to make screaming acid lines.

Another solo flamenco guitar piece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2L1A565aGqI

Totally different style to the first - and a lot harder, too :) Alegrias means 'joy', or similar and it seemed appropriate for the Spring time!

hey all.
i have a myspace music page with just the 4/5 tracks on there.. 1st track was written by me & a tutor called Calvin.. second track ( i think ) is 2 tracks of roughly 2 mins each, written by myself, Calvin & a few other very tired ppl on a 24hr recording session.. the 3rd track is a bluesy guitar duel between me & another tutor called Marcus.. with Calvin walking the bass & an old friend (who just so happens to look like John henry bonham) on drums.. that was fun.
& the 3rd track was something again co-written by me & tutors, although it was originally recorded with "Rap" vocals & i don't like rap at all so i asked for an instrumental version et voila.
hope you enjoy the music, maybe let me know what you think.. :) thanks

I have a couple of projects though i have not done anything musical for a while now. I used to play bass in a doom metal band but the whole thing fell through, we could not find a drummer and the guy who was on guitar turned out to be a sociopathic pervert. However I still felt the need to create dark and heavy music so i taught myself how to use fruity loops, got myself a load of samples and went to work. I describe my music as psychonautic funeral drone as it introspective, psychedelic and heavily influenced by the funeral doom and drone genres I named my project In Her Stagnant Water as it was a fitting reflection (water) of my decaying and stagnant life.

A full length album is available on Last.fm

In Her Stagnant Water - Salix Alba

And an ep

In Her Stagnant Water - Nought, Infinity, Darkness, Nowhere.

My second project was much more minimalist, ambient and repetitive but in a similar vein. I spent less time and effort on this as it is purely about feeling and atmosphere and not music.

The Ever Descending - Descendant Volume One

and

The Ever Descending - The 13th Cycle Of Descent

This is the first time either of these projects has had any publicity or advertising on any forum, i sort of made them for myself and uploaded them for the sake of it. I think the mysapce pages may be still up but i have left them to decay, this is not happy pop music.

i saw some clouds when i was sitting on my veranda. they were nice and i made this up to trace them.
it is rather raw and has no real lead, but it is a basis for more development i guess.
for now it is simple called "some clouds"

another little musical thing i thought of was about a crested pigeon that inhabits my yard during daylight hours.

he has come here evry day for a couple of years.
he is always alone.
he looks lonely.
even in the bright morning sunshine when he should feel happy, he felt sad.

one day (at song time 1:19) a female flew in and he acted so uncharacteristically happy and immature (in a very cute way).
i am glad he has a new love because heis life only goes for a few years, and i know he has spent some years here with me just aimlessly pecking.

here is the song. it is not professional remember. it is just me playing.
