Metallica is my favorite, Megadeth a close second. I'm also a big fan of Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack, and of course Iron F***ing Maiden!!

I'd also travel a long, long ways to see Manowar live. That would be a major life event.

IRON MAIDEN kicks ass i forgot to mention that one.
But megadeth and metallica share some similarities cuz dave mustaine was the metallica guitarist before kirk hammet.

Cynic - Progressive death metal meets Jazz 8)
Saw them live with Opeth as well.

I also love my Isis and Neurosis - check neurosis out if you like Isis.

And to a lesser extent i'm obsessed with Mastodon, they have some crazy stuff going and the new record is great. Saw them with Slayer :D and Trivium :(

Seeing as Hector mentioned Kyuss, (who I love) then I feel brave enough to list some of the not-exactly metal I do like, which is Clutch, Faith no More, Disturbed , Monster Magnet and Danzig (yeah, I'm probably a gender traitor..all those strippers in the videos)

Things I listened to long ago, which my mother used to dismissively refer to as "awful heavy metal racket" (wrongly with most of them) are:-
Therapy?
Fudge Tunnel
Pitchshifter
Terrorvision (I know, I know- , but they're from near me)
Helmet
Suicidal Tendencies
Verbal Assault
No means No
Black Flag/Rollins Band(still do listen to...)
Seven Seconds
Gorrilla Biscuits
Minor Threat
Misfits

Ahhh, nostalgia

I have many favorite metal bands. I can't possibly choose.

I'll list a few off the top of my head

Scar Symmetry
Miseration
Cryptopsy
Opeth
Circle of Dead Children(well, they're grindcore, so I guess it doesn't quite count as metal. Close enough :P)
Dark Lunacy

KISS!! !! ! whether you like it or not. and i don't give a f**k what anyone thinks about 'em.
it started when my momma's ex-boyfriend introduced me to their stuff when i was 5yrs old. but i didn't take my obsession for them seriously 'cos it wasn't normal for a little 5 year old girl to like them. this month, i saw Kiss in Bogota, Colombia for the 1st time and i've been reconverted since!

At the minute, it's Electric Wizard. I recently bought a copy of 'Dopethrone', and I've been spellbound ever since at this album. It's incredible. I highly recommend to fans of Kyuss, Sunn O))), Acid King, Trouble, The Hidden Hand etc.

It's a toss up between Iron Maiden and AC/DC, although I'm not sure if they'd qualify as metal.
