I have a very eclectic taste in music. I'll listen to pretty much anything, with the exception of country, heavy metal/screamo, rap, or hip-hop.

Are there any aspies here that like rap? I don't, but no one else seems to either. Why do you think that is? Because it's about a lifestyle none of us can identify with?

Also, is there a type of music called "Butt Metal?"

I like a lot of what i call "pop punk"

bands such as

Simple Plan
Blink 182
Green Day
Good Charlotte

as well as more mainstreem rock such as

3 doors down
Nickelback
Daughtry
Matchbox 20

Not all rap music speaks of the gangster or rap-star attitude; go look at the vast majority of so-called "indie hip hop" and you will find a barrage of diverse wordsmiths.

However, it could merely be the personality that radio rap gives of the genre that stops us from hunting down the more obscure types.

I am not a listener of rap/hip-hop, though, so don't take my words at face value. I just know this stuff exists and that someday, once I have worked through my big list of records to listen to, I'll be checking it out.

I listen to indie rock. I have a special place for forgotten indie rock bands from the Nineties - stuff that's gone out of print, on labels that don't exist anymore - but most any time period goes.

I like a variety of different genres:

I'd say Metal (Metallica, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, The Devin Townsend Band)

Whatever Apocalyptica is classified as (includes bands like Jelonek and Escala)

Gnarls Barkley (not the genre just the band)

and Classical music (Carl Orff, Olafur Arnalds)

Prog rock (Supertramp, Boston, Kansas, ELO)
Celtic punk (Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphies)
Psychedelic rock (Beatles, Pink Floyd)
Classic metal (Van Halen, Black Sabbath)
Hard rock (Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith)
Funk rock/metal (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primus)
