I have been really getting into movies lately and I have recently found that not only can I bear to watch black and white movies but I love them especially the horror genre. also most of the old no audio dialgue ones are youtubable and good for passing time at work. Any who here are a few I have checked out and enjoyed. Please post any suggestions I watch about one movie a day so I'm sure they will be watched shortly.

The Begotten
Nosferatu
Invasion of the body snatchers
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Dr. Strangelove
Clerks

I have seen Carnival of souls it was a good flick, I was trying to think of it for my list but couldn't remember the name. I like watching movies like that when I am half asleep as it adds on to the erieness. I think tonight I am going to try to watch M and or 7 samurai, then make my way to the others.

My wife and I love the old black and white horror classics, in particular Nosferatu, The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari, The Wolfman, and others. Much can be said as well for modern black and white films like the recent remake of Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, and David Lynch's Eraser Head, and The Elephant Man. And we both agree the old Twilight Zone couldn't have worked in color; the black and white imagery only added to the creepiness and mystery.

a minority opinion here, but i can barely tolerate black and white anything. it is to my eyes what monophonic sound is to my ears- reductive and with the indelible sense that something important is missing from the presentation.

I find this ironic in the fact that as far as I can tell your avatar is in black and white.

I very much dislike black and white as well. Nostalgia and me never got along.

i find that if i stare at something flesh-colored long enough, then when i look back at my avatar it looks somewhat fleshy. anyways, i am no puter expert or even a puter plebian so i took what avatar i could get to fit in the tiny little WP window. if i could've gotten a color version i woulda taken one. i tried colorizing it but then it was too big bitwise for WP.
what i really am torqued off by, are art snobs belittling me and my itty bitty brain for being the way i am. but i digress. us monochrome-meh types have got to stick together more often.
one of my weird hobbies is modernizing nostalgia- what a concept, no?

Some really good modern black and white films:

"the heart of the world" a short film by guy maddin... Available on YouTube
"Brand Upon the Brain" also by guy maddin.
"the American Astronaut". Odd, funny, a rock and roll sci-fi western musical
"The Forbidden Zone" something to offend everyone.
