demonabyss10: the best advice i've ever gotten about guitar was from my dad, who's been playing for about 30 years, which is "record everything" it's pretty beneficial to see what you sound like through another medium; it's also beneficial to keep a record of your progress over the years. i've learned a lot about how far along i'm coming with guitar by listening to recordings i made in 2008, and 2009, and this year, and comparing my style and how i've improved and using that knowledge to progress further. anyway, point being, you should invest in a microphone of some sort (doesn't have to be expensive, i use my brother's webcam) and download a free recording program and see what you can do with it.

I sing in a Christian symphonic metal band called Edge of Eternity. My husband and I do acoustic gigs at churches and pubs too, any and every type of genre. I played piano as a child but hated practicing; now I want to get back into it. Our band is on Facebook and Myspace if you're interested-- www.myspace.com/edgeofeternitymusic Dunno the actual Facebook link but pretty sure you could find us (the female fronted band).

i'm listening to your band ATM, you guys are pretty good, although i'm not really a fan of the male vocalist. screaming kind of screws with the melodic vibe your songs have...i like your vocals though, you kind of remind me of grace slick from jefferson airplane =)

i have a music myspace for recordings i've made, but i'm kind of afraid to post them on here ._.

The screamer is my husband (we first met when he auditioned for band) but yeah, it's a style preference. I used to hate it but it's grown on me. He can sing too. Not sure which song you listened to--Seeing Through the Looking Glass is the only one that's an "official" recording so to speak. We're in the studio now and going to re-do the other songs and start recording our new stuff. We do covers of Evanescence, Phantom of the Opera, Skillet--variety. Post your stuff!! ! :)

i listened to all 3 of the videos on the myspace profile, there isn't anything else to listen to besides them.

i don't really prefer one over the other, but it's good music =) kind of makes me think "modern psychadelic"

and i guess i'll post my link it's http://www.myspace.com/mysolomyspace

EDIT: it is time has a sweet keyboard solo =D

Cool-I listened to some which is amazing in and of itself that my internet actually let me! So are you playing and singing or did you do the recording for someone else? That's weird you didn't see the Mp3s on our page but just the videos. I wish they'd take one of those down--I had strep and was losing my voice ugh. Are you wanting to pursue music for a living? What other job are you doing in the meantime?

i played and sang myself, and everything but the system of a down cover was made by me. and everything but right track was an improv.

i am looking to pursue a career in music, my skill is actualy above what those recordings show (i have a tendancy to screw up a lot when i'm being recorded), and it keeps rising so hopefully in a year or two i'll be at a level where i can start making money with this s**t.

i'm currently unemployed and looking for a job, but i have to find somewhere within walking distance of my house because i don't have a car. it sucks, because i have very little music equipment (a really sh***y guitar and a really sh***y amp, both of which i'm borrowing from people) and need to invest in stuff that actually plays good. hopefully somewhere will hire me soon and i can get my life on track.

I thought maybe you ran your own recording studio but now I connect the dots and assume you probably just meant it was a recording of you singing and playing. I like the guitar and how that one song you sang very chill went next to something heavier.

oh haha yeah all of those recordings were done with a cheap program and a webcam mic ._. like i said, i'm low on supplies, so i do what i can with what i have.

and thanks for the compliment =) i try to be as musically diverse as possible. i have like 3-4 clean recordings on there just to mix it up a bit from the metal, and a few months ago i did a couple of recordings with rhythm/lead (autumn rain is the one that goes over the best with people) that didn't turn out too bad. the battles have what is probably my best playing on a recording, and the bassist i did them with is really good (and he's 15!)

That's awesome! And yeah, our keyboardist, who also plays guitar and drums and taught himself, just turned 17, or maybe 16 I forget. He's a musical prodigy. But goodluck on your job pursuits! Music business is evil...need money to improve (equipment or what not), but can't make money until you've improved lol. And even then, some people just have the hook up or are in the right place at the right time! Pray about it!

I'm obsessed with instrumental music and will only listen to it if it's played a certain way. I can make my own MIDI music, but I've yet to learn how to use soundfonts.

I've been obsessed with music since the very end of July; I'm honestly very surprised it took so long, since I have loved music all my life and since I was in band from sixth-eighth grade. I've obtained some music software (a DAW, lots of synths, a drum machine, and some guitar software) and I'm currently teaching myself all about music theory and how to use the software. I've improved markedly, and I hope to get a keyboard (nothing fancy, just a MIDI controller) for Christmas. Once I get a keyboard, I'll hopefully be able to translate what's in my head to the software better.

i've been absolutely obsessed with music ever since i started playing the guitar about 4 years ago, it's my passion in life and really is the only thing i'm actually good at. i don't play guitar exclusively; if i can get my hands on it, i'll play just about any other instrument, and i've displayed some proficiency at the bass, drums, and piano, and (in a limited, deep range) singing. i've wondered ever since i was given my diagnosis whether or not my musical ability has to do with asperger's, and hopefully this discussion might lead to answers, or at least a good musical conversation =)

i am teaching myself drums, iv almost got wipe out down packed

Yep. I play piano, marimba, xylophone, vibraphone, drums quite well... and I'm okay at tuba and baritone/euphonium. I wish to learn an instrument such as the clarinet or a sort of saxophone. Flute would be nice, but merely producing a sound on it has been proven an arduous task for me.
