Dubstep is pretty awesome. My ex was a raver and he had a few friends who were into the stuff...I always loved when they played it at clubs and house parties.,,and I still love it! What I find annoying is drum and bass...it's too fast for me and I like a smooth, slow, steady vibe.

Some of my favourites: the first one will always be my all-time favourite. I've seen Zed's Dead spin a few times at the events I used to go to. :)

This is the song that really attracted my attention to dubstep.

You really think so? I actually love that sort of thing more than anything else. Even bigger on dnb (my name might give that away) but dubstep does have some excellent tunes and artists. Particularly for a while I've been feeling Pinch, Scuba, Zomby, Scanone, Geiom, 2562, there's also a lot of good melodic and truly chilling stuff out there by Phaeleh, you also have people like Kito almost bringing back something like an 1998 Mickey Finn/Aphrodite edge to it with high-class rnb, lol....what's there not to like.

Got this washing over me at the moment since we got on the topic:

And its funny, tonight I just put my ear back to the ground after a brief hiatus, its amazing what you'll find if you look around a bit. Here's another man I'll have to chase down works by, just on principle, this one's just f&^*ing brutal:

Dubstep's come along way in such a short space of time. :)

At the moment the only artist I mostly listen to in this genre is Burial.

A friend of mine introduced me to it, and I occassionally listen to some novelty remixes of Star Wars and The Inspector Gadget one.

I prefer the miminalism of it. Kinda like the old days of Rhythm & Sound + Basic Channel (who are the same people anyway :))

Dubstep is obviously influenced by Reggae, but there aren't really that many artists out there with a complete LP to satisfy my ears. :)

D n B on the other hand I've been a fan for quite a while with artists such as:

- Amon Tobin
- Aquasky
- DJ Fresh
- Goldie
- A Guy Called Gerald
- High Contrast
- LTJ Bukem
- Pendulum
- Photek
- Plug
- Ram Trilogy
- Source Direct
- Technical Itch

Forgive my repetitive nature of my posts, I rarely visit here. :P

With all of the responses, one might say aspies understand dubstep more rather than less and appreciate it more.
For me, music has always been about the notes played, the way they're played, and the beats. I like everything from said dubstep, techno, to metal, 70's rock, dance, death, and prog.
Mainly just the way a song makes me feel. And music always makes me feel better about myself.

what's this "AS don't like dubstep" bull-crap? I can't get enough of it! I love Jungle/DNB, breakcore, acid house, trance etc. most forms of rave music :) I especially love the more reggae & jazz influenced side of dubstep i.e. Benga 'Diary Of An Afro Warrior'. I love going to raves and getting immersed in the music, letting the bass & drums take over my body.

I love all sorts of music. My favourite genres (apart from dubstep) are Irish/Celtic folk music, Jazz, prog rock, drum n bass... anything with an interesting time signature, a strong rhythm or a good bass line!

His 80's tune is really slick as well (might be B side to Psychedellic Runnaway?).

That's aces. Really nice. I like the pop sensibility that informs it. It almost sounds a bit Timbaland-ish; you know, when he was still good. Would love to hear an Aaliyah acappella layered over this. "If your girl only knew..."

I'm going to check out the rest of the tunes in this thread tomorrow. I was really into dubstep for a bit, but then it all started sounding like a lot of shiny sound design, wobbly bass and no soul.

How about an old school garage thread? :D

Yeah, like those guys. El B, Brasstooth, Zed Bias, Groove Chronicles. Dudes like that. Maybe a bit too niche, really.

That's like someone took the early burial sound and just amplified all the burialness.
