I love grunge, brings me back to childhood but it fits me a lot as well just the sounds and message. I hate fads of how to dress, and I would prefer everyone to be in grungy rags. Or suits.....just not fads...i hate them.

Anyways...there is always the obvious nirvana, alice and chains, etc... (Which are awesome of course)

What are some unique grunge bands you like?

Someone had made a post about silver chair- i'd consider them grunge and not so mainstream...but I don't know much about their new stuff.

Here's a few....I will add more later.

hmm..these aren't that grungey....maybe not even grunge. =(

anyways...post some grunge- i'll post some for sure grunge later

The Meat Puppets preceded grunge by about a decade. They weren't grunge. Sorry guys.

I have a very narrow definition of grunge--only Washington bands starting with late 80s bands like Green River up until Cobain's death in 1994. Anything else, from anywhere else, from that time is just alternative rock IMO.

I generally like the grunge bands, but I was never a big fan. Cobain was a good songwriter. I will always dig Matt Cameron. And I still think Stone Gossard is an insufferable jack@ss who can't play guitar for bleep.

I saw Soundgarden during their Louder Than Love tour, with that pitiful Jason Everman on bass. They were spectacularly god awful that night.

:D Hellz yes!! !! Far Behind was and is one of my favorite songs of all time. And I saw Alice in Chains live in DC about a yr ago. Duvall does an amazing job belting out those classic songs. (The fact that i said that may piss a lot of fans off). Regardless they were great live and it was quite an experience, and a cherished memory.

I also saw Pearl Jam last summer in Connecticut and they were amazing too.

Bands of my childhood. They make me nostalgic and happy.

Thx fer posting about this!

are you from washington?

I am from washington...still in wasington- i feel like since I have lived here and grew up with the songs they are more apart of me

though I would agree about ur analysis on grunge I still like the other alternative bands near that era because of 107.7 though they are not nearly as good now as they were then. I loved their end of the year count down as well as their top ten count down which kinda sucks now though I did listen to their most recent one and it was quite decent...some classics in there still.

I guess I like grunge, although I haven't really listened to a whole lot of it.

Some of my favorite grunge songs are:

Where's the love for Soundgarden? When the whole Seattle scene broke open thanks to Nirvana in the early 90s, Soundgarden had already been around in the local underground for 7 years. Chris Cornell's voice never ceases to amaze me. And Kim Thayil's an awesome guitarist too.

The "grunge" that was produced after the music industry sunk its sinister fangs into the Seattle Sound and sucked it dry was terrible. Nirvana's okay, but is mostly too whiny for me (original emocore/Revolution Summer stuff can be the same way). Soundgarden, the Melvins and Green River are pretty great, though.
