I am creating this thread because I am curious as to whether or not my obsession for Technical Death Metal is shared amongst other aspies. (particularly those of you whom play an instrument). I often wonder if my love for TDM arises largely out of certain psychological aspects of having AS and figured I would ask here and see if I can draw any correlations.

For reference, here is a short list of some TDM bands - Origin, Hour of Penance, Cryptopsy, Spawn of Possession, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Anata, Braindrill, Viraemia, Obscura.

I specifically cited Technical Death Metal because I have drawn some pretentious conclusions on certain aspects of this sub-genre and how these may or may not appeal to an aspie but, if you have any input whatsoever on death/black metal, please share :)

Thanks guys :)

I used to be really into Tech Death last year, I still kind of am in a way. I like Necrophagist, Obscura, Braindrill, Blotted Science, The Faceless, Cryptopsy, Nile and Origin - I find Origin really hard to listen to, they get really dull after a few songs.

Your thoughts on TDM are pretty interesting, I think that one of the main reasons I like TDM is because of the repetitive aspects in songs. Like I know I'm always bound to hear sweeping, legato, tapping, groovy fretless/fretted bass licks, odd time signatures, string skipping and blast beats whenever I'm listening to a Tech Death song. I guess its just the way those techniques are so overly used in the TDM realm. :D
