Nice list Hector, I love all those albums! Except for maybe Today is the Day. I am familiar with them and remember seeing them play years ago, but just not my thing. The rest are all classics though.

Thanks. I see we have some overlap; I stopped for a second when I saw someone mention Dragnet and had to check to make sure that wasn't me.

Today Is the Day are sort of hit-or-miss with me but that album in particular is sublime. I guess I can understand they're not for everyone.

Also, to amazon, I like Jawbreaker too, though I haven't listened to them that much in recent years. They used to be among my favorite bands, and both of the albums you listed are their best.

One of my worst "Missed concert experiences" was missing them at the Jabberjaw in LA in 1995. It was before I had my license, and my friends brother told me he would take me along. To say I was excited is an understatement. Which is why I was so devastated when they ditched me, and I didn't get to go. I saw Jets to Brazil a couple times, but it wasn't the same.

Hector, yeah some similar stuff for sure. I love The Fall and had a hard time choosing an album to include in my list, but I decided that "Dragnet" sort of encompassed their early, more "punk" sound the best. But, "Punk" or not, I think Dragnet is just a great album, and a lot of my list are simply most of my favorite albums period. I listen to a lot of different styles of music, it's always been my main obsession, but Punk/Proto-Punk/Post-Punk/Whatever (I'm not big on goofy music genre names, for me punk is more of a feeling and an approach) was my first musical obsession.

I never had the pleasure of seeing either. Jets to Brazil's "Orange Rhyming Dictionary" is one of my favorite albums ever, but from the live footage I've seen they didn't sound that good.

Still would have been an awesome experience though, I am envious.

I have fond memories of seeing Jets to Brazil, it's just that it wasn't Jawbreaker

3. Cut - The Slits
4. Germ Free Adolescents - X-Ray Spex
5. Damaged - Black Flag
6. Reject All American - Bikini Kill
7. Public Image - Public Image Ltd.
8. 13 Songs - Fugazi
9. Ramones - Ramones
10. The Clash - The Clash

Kait, I don't consider any of your choices to be "mainstream" at all (Only a few were even released on major labels), they are all solid choices. Actually they are great choices, and I like every one of them too. :)

^^^ DAMN...

The top of my head sucks...

If I had to do it over, one of those clash and ramones doubles would have been replaced by Dead Kennedys and the other by Bad Religion...

My favorite recent ones are The Black and White Album by The Hives, and the newest Green Day album.

I'm going to do 10 of my favorite songs instead, in no particular order:

1) I Don't Wanna Grow Up - The Ramones
2) Kill the Poor- The Dead Kennedys
3) The Saints are Coming (Skids cover) - U2/Green Day
4) Main Offender- The Hives
5) London Calling- The Clash
6) God Save the Queen- Sex Pistols (although I don't really like the rest of the album)
7) I Against I- Bad Brains
8) Any other cover song by the Ramones: California Sun, Spider Man, etc.
9) Hammerhead- The Offspring
10) Search and Destroy- The Stooges
