I think "Over the Edge" is my favorite Wipers album... I also love Greg Sage's "Straight Ahead" album.

An acquaintance of mine tried to track down Greg Sage (He lives in the Arizona desert), and when they found his house he told them as politely as possible that he didn't want to be bothered. I guess he has a lot of cats. Anticlimactic story... I know, but my response to the persons who told me this story was something along the lines of "What the f**k did you expect? Leave the dude alone"

I'm not surprised that he lives in the desert with a bunch o cats.

I mean, how many albums did wipers put out before they played a single show outside of portland? They only even played in their hometown once a year or something, right?

I've read some crap about the not playing shows thing was an ingenious plan on Sage's part to develop a cult following ... seems more like the feller is just plain shy

On the topic of cult musicians, I met someone in. A library who looked JUST like Steve Albini! I informed him of Big Black and Surfer Rosa and In Utero, and I asked him if this sounded familiar. He then said "Yes. That's because I AM Steve." I. Flipped. Turns out it wasn't him :( . My drummer said he wishes he had a camera to capture my expression at that moment.

I would definitely consider "Scum" a punk album, especially Side One

Yeah I can agree with that. Grindcore originated from Hardcore Punk and Discharge's 'D-Beat' sound. As well as the Thrash Metal of the time

Scum and From Enslavement to Obliteration are two fantastic albums. I find Harmony Corruption to be underrated and Fear, Emptiness and Despair as their best work in the 90s.

Check out Terrorizer and Repulsion for a similar sort of sound. :D

Went a bit off topic there, me thinks. But I have watched both Mosquito and Frostbiter: Wrath of the Wendigo since the last post and found them both 'entertaining', and can recommend both for your viewing pleasure (if anyone cares).
Here's my top 10, which gets a bit hazy towards the end.
1. Raw Power
2. Never Mind the Bollocks - Sex Pistols
3. Marque Moon - Television
4. Funhouse - Stooges
5. London Calling - Clash
6. The Ramones
7. New York Dolls
8. White Light/ White Heat - Velvets
9. Singles Going Steady - Buzzcocks
10. New Rose (single) - The Damned

Am I the only person that finds the Sex Pistols album to sound like absolute crap?

Here is my top 12.
It would make a very good playlist for the occupy movement.

New Model Army -Thunder and Consolation
killing joke - absolute dissent
billy Bragg- back to basics
the pogues - If I should fall from grace with God
Manic Street Preachers- Holy Bible
The Replacements- Let it be
The waterboys- this is the sea
the clash-London calling
Levellers- levelling the land
The Jam- The Gift
Ted Leo and the pharmacists- shake the sheets
Flogging Molly- drunken lullabies

Nice - rare to find someone else whose favorite Bad Religion album is The Process of Belief, and whose favorite Bronx album is III.

Wearing a shirt with this album cover right now, awesome.
