Write a novel at least 50000 words in length by the end of November, starting November 1

If you succeed, you can tick off one of your lifetime goals of writing a novel (if you haven't already). At least, I don't think I'll have a better opportunity for doing this in a good while.

Is anyone else going to try this out?

I failed badly last year, managed to go a bit ahead of the schedule for 2 weeks, then just couldn't finish the damn story :P

definitely doing it again this year, this time I've collected several ideas so hopefully I'll manage to keep the block away.

@orchidee did you manage to meet the goal each time?

I'm definitely participating this year, but before November actually begins I need to plan out my story and characters.

Well maybe your mind can sort it out via your dreams.

I am going to do this too. Really motivating!

that's what I'm hoping for. I got my big whiteboard with most of my story outlined, just the huge whitespace in the middle is the still-missing "twist"

Well, I still have the .001K mark to reach, but I am very excited that I actually know what's gonna be what!

I'm doing it for the first time this year, have been wanting to since 2007 or so though. Just never thought I could pull it off, and I probably wouldn't have. It's going better than I had hoped, especially as I've never written anything longer than a six or so pages long short story. :)

wow congrats! I dropped out at 10k when I went on holiday, couldn't get back into it when I came back :-/ on the upside though I really like my story so far so likely to continue at a more normal pace ;)

A stunningly beautiful blond girl, murder, autism, synaesthesia, bipolar disorder, wine, food.... It all came out in 80k words - finished and published by the 21st of November! (Er, I started it LAST year though...) But NaNoWriMo was my inspiration.
As an almost neurotypical person, I'd be glad to know what forumites think of my aspie character though. You can download the first few chapters from the usual sites (amazon, smashwords). Anyone interested to read the rest I'll send you a free copy - just send a message.
