Fender telecaster custom, Japanese, made in like 1996.
Dean 12 string acoustic with a broken internal electric pickup.
sh***y Fender acoustic that I got used for like $75 when I was in college, that is my go-to and I love it to death.

Also I have a Boss 8-track recording piece and a couple microphones and a keyboard that I got for free and don't really know how to play.

I'll give you $1+shipping for that telecaster. PM me and we can work out paypal and other details. ;)

Don't "wink" at me talking that kind of s**t.

Watch your mouth.

Sorry...I had to try, though! Too bad it wasn't a strat. I'd have offered $2.

Unacceptable.

Are you saying my gear sucks? If so, you're entitled to that opinion. Mine is not the finest.

Sounds like you have a wild setup, good for you.

I dunno why you'd come at me passive-aggressive like that out of nowhere but whatever, bring the pain. Tell me how bad my setup sucks. Tell me how bad I suck. Whatever's important to you.

Um...I think you're missing what I was really getting at.

Your gear doesn't suck. It was meant as a joke. Japanese Fenders were made super-cheap but had a build quality that equaled or exceeded the American ones. I'm the one with a cheap @$$ Mexican tele that I hotrodded. What would REALLY suck is if you were foolish enough to take me up on my offer. You don't strike me as an idiot.

All jokes aside, I'm just guessing you could sell your tele for at least $700, maybe a lot more. I got all my gear back when the money was still good, and I was really lucky. There were about three years I wouldn't even touch eBay, and now I'm back to scouting pawn shops, eBay, and estate sales to see which poor sucker out there doesn't know what his gear is really worth. I just haggled someone over an Obie Matrix 1000 and paid nearly $100 less than what he was asking for--when what I REALLY want is a Roland V-Synth XT ($3500). Being broke will do that to you. But in the end I got a great peace of gear, the guy who sold it to me made some money, and the deal was fair for everyone.

Is a $1 for your telecaster an insulting offer? Sure...but not because your gear sucks. It's insulting because you have great stuff that I somewhat envy. Never take stuff like that so seriously. The bass player in my band happens to own a 1980s MIJ Strat that we joke about. If we're being serious, we tell him not to ever sell it. It's a collector's item now, and he's lucky to have it. Here's what I found on eBay if you don't believe me about the tele:

Vintage Custom 80s MIJ Tele on eBay

A 90s MIJ won't be as valuable as something like that, but the Japanese had a solid reputation for building excellent guitars. I think all the custom deluxe Fenders are still MIJ. Don't think I was trying to say your gear sucked.

{Besides, if I thought your gear sucked, why would I even want it taking up space in my house, even for $1?)

I seem to have this weird idea that if I buy more musical instruments, some how I'll eventually figure out how to play them.

I have:

Yamaha p-80 electric piano. Currently I'm using this as a MIDI controller for various synth apps in my iPad, specifically the Korg iMS-20 and NLog Pro.

A old, distressed Saxophone

A Classical guitar

A recorder

A few kazoos (I can't play those either)

I kinda want to get a banjo because they look neat, but considering I can't play any of the instruments I have, I probably ought to save my money.

I own a glockenspiel (though you shouldn't ask me the name or the brand), because I wanted to learn how to play it, but I have barely practiced at all. I've sometimes tried to mimick the tunes of my favourite songs, and that was pretty neat, but I really do want to spend more time on learning how to make music on it.

I originally wanted a xylophone, but for some reason, wooden keys are more expensive than metal keys.

I've played guitar for over twelve years now and have finally settled on a second-hand Fender Jazzmaster as my main instrument. It's a Japanese-made model in sunburst finish that's around ten years old or so. I also have a Squier strat (my first guitar, which I can't part with) and an Ibanez artist (a bit like a Les Paul knock-off with better build quality).

I have a five watt Blackstar amp and a load of pedals. Too many pedals. A RAT and custom-built Big Muff distortion, MXR analogue delay for experimental crashlanding UFO type of noises, loads of Boss digital delays and reverbs...mostly for a home recording/solo project I'm constantly procrastinating about. I used to play in an amateur pub band until Real Life got in the way. My gear list seems to change over the years along with my tastes and playing style. GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) appears to be a chronic condition it seems

I bought a Fender Jazz Bass earlier this year and I'm still learning how to play it properly. I'm naturally left-handed but it's the first time I've played a left-handed musical instrument so it partly feels like I'm learning it from scratch. Quite fun actually!

Just added a second-hand Fostex MR-8 digital multi-track (the red one) plus 2GB memory card to my collection. A 50th birthday present from my lovely wife, Karen.

Image

Here is the first recording I made with it:

Wurly Boogie

Drums are from my Casio WK-3000
Bass is my Stagg EDB 3/4 electric upright
Piano is my new Nord Electro 3 73 using the Wurlitzer sound and "Twin" amp emulation.

Hope you enjoy it!
