A poem about the end of soaps
Nearing the End of Soaps
There was a time long ago
When I was little
When my mother had on in the daytime
Scenes of drama and passion
Men and women fighting and making love
Those were the soaps
Though I never really watched them then
I saw openings of them
Heard their theme songs
And saw their promos
Throughout the years growing up
Sometimes I would tune in to a soap
And watch for a few episodes
Then just not watch it anymore
Then a few years later
I would tune into another soap
And awhile later stop watching
Watching soaps had been
An off and on occasional thing
Until I saw a soap
On the TV at the dentist’s office
On February 2011
That was when I really got into soaps
But as I was getting into them
I found that there were not many soaps left
Because most of them are cancelled
Just as I was getting into One Life to Live
ABC cancels the show
Along with All My Children
And replaces them with The Spew and The Revoltion
As there are many soap fans who are boycotting ABC
And those two replacement shows
I am going along with them
Soaps have been a part of peoples lives
To many, they have become family
There are people
Who have been watching soaps for many years
Some who have been watching
Ever since the soap begun
There are people
Who have been watching since they were little kids
They watched them with their grandmothers
when they got home from school
I’m in my thirties
But there are people younger than me
Who watch soaps
Some who have for a long time
I really regret not watching soaps
Much earlier than I have now
As they now being replaced by,
And have been replaced by
Talk shows and reality shows
Since my favorite soap has been off the air
I watch the Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives
And sometimes The Bold and the Beautiful
Though soaps are kind of new to me
They are my escape to happiness
And I want to enjoy them while they last
As the years will pass on
Like radio shows and variety shows
Records and vitriol’s
The soap genre will be a relic of the past
This will be the saddest thing in the world

It's more like a short story than a poem.
You get your point across well in your writing.
I never really care much for soaps.
