2pac for me, Biggie doesn't come far behind, I just wish there was more material from the latter artist.

I'm also a fan of Micheal Jackson, Luther Vandross & Marvin Gaye.

Agreed, especially on Marvin Gaye.

bobby darin could do it all like nobody's business. and frances farmer was not only an outstanding actress but also a woefully underutilized musician and singer, who possessed an utterly unique contralto voice rather like marian anderson, and who could play several instruments including guitar and pedal harp. both left too soon.

i am not sure whether beethoven was a good musician however. i have never heard any stories about how well he played the piano.

Beethoven was by far the best player around. He was a player first and composer second until he realized that to express himself properly, he needed to create new music. He premiered most of his piano concertos himself, but as his hearing got worse this became difficult and then impossible. He played so powerfully that he broke the pianos he used, and had instruments specially built for him, pushing the development of the Piano forward more than anyone in the history of keyboards (until Robert Moog, perhaps?).

Relevant to this site as well, I would assume, is that he is a prime candidate for a post mortem Autism Spectrum diagnosis.

For me, there are too many great dead people to mention, so here are a few great dead guys I had the great privilege of seeing live: Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, Jokke, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Richard Wright,

I'd have to say it's a tie between Vivaldi and Peter Steele.

Miles Davies, Jeff Buckley, Ian Curtis, Freddie Mercury.

All people I got into far too late! Oh, and Charles Mingus.

Janis Joplin would be my favorite, with Billie Holiday following close behind.

Woody Guthrie should be mentioned. Without him folk music would not be the same.
