I’m Unlikable

One night while I was watching the game
I was screaming at my mom
About all the bad things I have done
In my whole life

I screamed and screamed
And she got so mad at me
That she took the TV away from me

Later that night
While mom and dad were sleeping
I apologized to mom and she got so upset
And it woke dad up
And he has to get to work
This wasn’t the first time
That I opened the door to their bedroom
Very quietly and woke both of them up

The next day mom was upset with me
And didn’t want to talk to me
She was depressed by what I do

I don’t seem to think about my dad
Or anybody else
I only think about myself and what I am feeling
I always whine, cry, and scream sometime at night
I seem to be sad all the time
I’m like a likeable person
Oh God, help me to be a happy and pleasant person
Help me to be an unselfish and giving person
A person that people will like

I would have liked this a little longer and deeper but it's late here, so here goes:

Maybe sometimes the things you do
Make mom and Dad get mad at you
These things will happen, they are probable
But this in no way makes you unlikeable

Sometimes you'll scream, sometimes you'll whine
You will apologize and things will work out fine

You are still their child
Whom they brought into the world
you are more than likeable
You are loveable, forever their little girl.

By 5 I had caught the house on fire twice. I had destroyed (a very expensive at the time) microwave oven. At 7 I tried to rewire my dads car. I broke glass. I covered the preachers car in spam and egg noodles. I have been ejected from professional baseball games (and I don't play). I have a permanant ban from a local dog racing track because I tried to pet the dogs...while they were running. I have done even worse I am too ashamed to share with you...I am telling you this because....

Despite all of it. I am loved by my family. I loved you poem. You will make sense of this all and you aren't unlikeable....just don't catch my house on fire.

I once thought it would be cool to light a roll of toilet paper on fire.....or to light a wad of newspaper and then go running, yes running to the fireplace to light it. Of course the roll of toilet paper went up in flames and of course I didn't make it to the fireplace. Melted the brand new carpet....Fell through the window in my bedroom because I was playing around...I"m 35 and that was by the age of 13. Let's not start on the later years!
