Watching his interviews it struck me that he might be on the autism spectrum. He doesn't like eye contact, his voice is monotone and never upbeat and he looks waaay younger than his age which i've learned is a frequent trait for asperger's syndrome. It is well-known that he is shy, but could it be more than that? I remember reading an interview of him where he said he was always angry and never pleased with himself as a teenager.Although he is arguably the sexiest man in the world, he doesn't hang out with glamorous women, but married the not so beauty renowned Vanesa Paradis.

That'd be cool. I think being smart makes people seem to have AS maybe it just means they are smart?

Funny, I was thinking this about Leonardo Dicaprio tbh.

Don't think either have aspergers.

I am a huge fan of Johnny Depp; I love the characters he portrays. It would be interesting if he had been diagnosed with AS. But since he's such a private person, I doubt if we'll ever know for sure.

I am also a huge fan of him, but honestly, does it matter? It is his life.

I don't think he looks younger than his age. People (not just Aspies!) use that phrase way too much.

I dunno if he could play so many different kinds of characters if had AS, since a characteristic tends to be not understanding other people. He does play a good outcast, though, doesn't he? I kind of get the impression that he's maybe a little uncomfortable with being so famous, like he's an actor because he really likes it, but he doesn't go out and make an ass out of himself every weekend. I adore him, though. Especially because I also love Tim Burton movies and the other actors that are always in them.

I love Johnny Depp and I think he is a very talented actor. I think he tends to have some things he does over and over again to show an emotion, so it could be he's just a very good mimic. He does tend to avoid eye contact and avoid people. He's very reclusive and I don't think he likes to be touched.

I read an article once about how Edward Scissorhands could be seen as a metaphor for AS because Edward feels like he hurts other people by trying to reach out to them, and he is very confused by the rest of the world. He was easy to manipulate, and didn't do very well with figurative language. It would kind of make sense, because Tim Burton created Edward because of how he felt as a teenager, and Helena Bonham Carter has stated that she thinks Burton has AS.

So maybe.

Maybe. That would be neat. Hard to envision a movie star being an aspie though. When I think of myself and all the effort that I've put into acting NT, I think I come up quite short even on a very good day.

He's an acting grandmaster if he is an aspie....

I really don't think that he has any form of autism. He's just very good at his job by becoming the character. Probably everyone got the idea that he might be an Aspie because of the parts he played and the intensity of his performance.

I've heard he has Social Anxiety Disorder, (which I've heard can be comorbid with Autism/Aspergers). I also heard somewhere that Tim Burton has Aspergers, is this true?
