For the past few years, it's been Yellow Magic Orchestra. Before that, as a kid for some reason I was obsessed with the Monkees, but that was like 7-8 years old. But for me, Yellow Magic Orchestra. YMO is one of those bands nobody else around me understands, but I like "get them" completely, I feel. My username is actually a name of a Yellow Magic Orchestra song.

I don't get why more people don't like YMO, it's pretty "arty" in every sense. I guess it works out for me, as that makes the vinyl cheap. I hope the hipsters only start liking them after I buy all the YMO vinyl I want. But yeah, YMO is just fantastic. It's like, music from the future, but from the past. They got like, this great dystopian feel to their music, but at the same time, their music doesn't feel "doom" like either, it's just almost stating the Brave New World of technological dystopia as a fact of life. That, and they're quite musically versatile, I think. They managed to make pretty poppy records that were still awesome, and then great arty stuff, and then Sakamoto's solo stuff is all over, he's a genius, and he's amazing at piano compositions, too.
But yeah, I've not met anyone who enjoys Yellow Magic Orchestra as much as I. HOWEVER, I did once meet someone who enjoyed eurobeat as much as me, and it was the best thing ever, it was extremely odd, it was a 60ish year old Italian man who spoke kinda bad English, I gave him a ride and had my eurobeat on and he was like "TURN IT UP" and started fist pumping to it. Other than that, it seems nobody understands me and my music. I'm sad now.
