For me, dystopian society set in the distant future, the main character being a mentally and emotionally (and a little physical, my character is pretty messed up) abused thirteen year old boy.

Yours?

EDIT: typed this post on my phone, fixing a few problems.

I'm going to use NaNoWriMo to actually start writing again, just not as much as I used to, let alone NaNoWriMo standards XD I'll either write a Harry Potter fanfiction or start a sims 3 legacy again :)

I think I'll try to write a post-apocalyptic story which is my specialty.

There's just no way I could write a novel in one month. I'd have to cloistered up in some monastery on a fairly deserted island to do it.

I've been kicking around an idea about a mysterious couple who live in the desert in New Mexico and how the way the townspeople treat them seems to a lonely little girl and to some of the other townspeople who interact with them.

A psychological thriller about the unusual relationship between an overprotective mother and her distant son.

Never heard of it before this thread, but I signed up and will attempt it.

My idea is set in the distant future, the occupant of a one-man spacecraft is looking for resources to perpetuate mankind. On his lonely journey he looks for ways to keep himself distracted in his confined space. All abruptly changes when he encounters what appears to be an alien. He and this alien begin talking about life, death and everything in between.

COntrary to what I had planned, I had no idea what I was going to write about until an hour ago when NaNo started in my area. All I know now is that it a mystery of some sort and takes place in a Medieval monastry (I think). It involves a mysterious illuminated manuscript, which contains magic or something. But I have no idea where it's going to go.

1000 words written.
