Okay, I actually have an example for my own thread at this point, the song in this movie trailer.

They showed a behind the scenes feature this afternoon for Les Miserables, oddly, before I saw Wreck-It Ralph. But the way they filmed this version of the musical is probably part of why it works so well. Unlike a lot of movie musicals, who would record the songs in a studio months before filming and have the cast lip sync to their(or sometimes someone elses) performances. This one, they actually sang the songs live as they filmed the scenes. They had hidden ear pieces with someone off stage playing the song on a piano, keeping tempo with however the actor was singing it and providing necessary audio cues for the songs. Doing multiple takes, it gave the cast room to actually act, adjust the songs to carry more emotional weight, and really give it all they got. They then added a full orchestra to the vocal tracks in post production. If the rest of the movie is on par with what they use in the trailer, should be pretty awesome to hear coming out of the sound system at a movie theater.
I have never seen any version of Les Miserables. I don't even know what it is about really. But I want to see it, because that gives me goosebumps.
