What exceptions?

How about "Chicago?"

depends....i really think you gain a different appreciation for a musical if you have to perform the music for it. most musicals are actually pretty demanding of musicians. which is why i enjoy performing them. as far as a fun storyline goes....that's a little harder....most musicals are pretty campy...but there are some that rise above....and there are others that you don't even realize are musicals (like the south park movie....which was a musical but disguised as a regular movie).

and then there's cannibal the musical.

All of them except "The Nightmare Before Christmas," and maybe "Corpse Bride."

"Moulin Rouge" had awesome visuals but the editing was so dizzying and the singing so awful that it gave me a headache a half-hour through...which sucks because I think there was a great film in there somewhere.

Phantom of the Opera...whose idea was it to cast a guy who'd never even SEEN a musical before as the ^%$# PHANTOM OF THE ^%$#% OPERA!?

I don't know. I didn't care much for Grease and 1776.

Grease was just okay and 1776 bored me.

Bride and Prejudice.

That has got to be one of the worst, if not THE worst, musicals ever written.

So many choices... Anything by Rodgers and Hammerstein... Grease... A whole lot of Disney ones... Quest for Camelot...

The exception I would choose, though, is one of my favorite movies, Diwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. For some reason it doesn't feel like I'm being disembowelled if they sing it in Hindustani.
