For me, the associations with winter usually come from a) being music I got for my birthday (which is in December) or Christmas, b) being music I heard around the time I came to Canada from Florida and had my first experiences with snow and cold weather in a long time, or c) being done by artists like Björk or the Knife/Fever Ray, who come from Nordic countries.
