Does anyone know any decent novels about ghosts?

I have read The Shining and a few others but cannot seem to find anything better than Stephen King.

I have on my list:

The Winter Ghosts
The Turn of the Screw
The Haunting of Hill House

Any more?

This is kind of old, but has some good ones: Seven Strange and Ghostly Tales by Brian Jacques

I love ghost stories but the kind I prefer to hear are real life ones.

I've read a few real ones but I am too much of a skeptic to take them seriously. I have found a few on GoodReads.com so will pursue them.

I have had a weird experience once where I may have seen a ghost or I saw someone who had passed away. But I still am a skeptic of a lot of the stories I hear.

I think in fiction there is more freedom to tell a more interesting story.

I love the ghost story from the film "The Fog" about the mariners who come back to haunt the town. That kind of story is interesting.

I think it's healthy to be skeptical of something that hasn't happened to yourself personally, still fun to hear the tales though.

Do you ever watch Ghost Adventures?

I have not heard of Ghost Adventures and never watch TV now. But I'll search it out on youtube.

I can't recall the title, but there was a Clive Barker short story about a mob accountant who is forced to take one for the team when his employers are arrested by the police. After he dies (might have been suicide, but I can't recall), his ghost inhabits the sheet laid over him, and he seeks gory revenge on the mobsters who had left him holding the bag.
