Dang, Evanescence AND System of a Down... You and Ganondox are going to get right along! :D

While I also like my share of rock bands, I usually listen to 80s pop bands that spun out of the New Romantic movement. I like:

Culture Club
Duran Duran
Spandau Ballet

I have a strange infatuation for the band Kajagoogoo, most famous for their hit 'Too Shy', lead singer Limahl, who also sang the theme for the Neverending Story movie, and their fantastic mullets.

Some rock bands I like are:

Deep Purple
Led Zeppelin
Living Colour
Guns N' Roses before Axl fired everybody
Queens of the Stone Age
Foo Fighters
Kings Of Leon

I'm also quite fond of Gossip, Arctic Monkeys, Skunk Anansie, Live (their early stuff). I've been listening to some Level 42 lately, and I think they're pretty solid.

I can only listen to one band at a time. Right now it is Tribes. I just saw them live. They're really good.

Oooh Dragonforce, Dream Theatre and Iron Maiden. I've heard only a few songs by these bands but I like what I've heard. Through the fire and flames, Panic Attack and The number of the beast lol.
SOAD are just brilliant. They're just like RHCP except a lot more metal I guess. Love them both though.
Mastodon is kinda metal for non-metal heads? But still they're pretty good
Tool need a new album soon!! !
Evanescence. So haunting. So awesome.

Here's a list of bands I listen to and how I found them.
AC/DC (Childhood)
Beastie Boys (early work) (childhood)
Crush 40 (formerly Sons of Angels) (Sonic Forever)
Guns n Roses (same as top)
Iron Maiden (Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4)
Jonathon Coulton (Valve and Code Monkeys)
Kiss (same as top)
Kix (same as top and the only big time band that came from where I live now)
Korn (South Park Season 3 Episode 10)
Magna-Fi (Shadow the Hedgehog)
Mastodon (Aqua Teen Hunger Force Movie Opening)
Maximum the Hormone (Thank you Death Note and TFS)
Metallica (same as top)
Motley Crue (same as top)
Nirvana (same as top)
Ozzy Osborn (same as top)
The Pillows (yes I saw FLCL)
Powerman 5000 (Shadow again and Nascar 2004)(I didn't know the lead singer Spider One was Rob Zombie's younger brother.)
Quiet Riot (same as top)
Ratt (same as top)
Rob Zombie (Beavis and Butthead Movie (The scene where they freak out in the desert))
Scorpions (same as top)
Sins of a Divine Mother (These guys don't exist anymore. They broke up without an album. One of their songs could've been in Shadow the Hedgehog)
Twisted Sister (same as top)
Van Halen (same as top)
I always hated music that was popular this very second with everyone else except me. I hated hip-hop, country, Pop, and anything else that had to do with the three. I always clung to Rock music regardless of what era it's from since it is easier on me to listen and understand. My thread titled "Don't Tell Me What Music to Listen to" explains this further. People tell me my taste in music is strange. Another told me it was gay but he was just kidding and I hate people who are just kidding. I'm always open to find new bands to add to the list.

Reverse chronology starting with the present:

Fleet Foxes, Native Roses, Florence and the Machine

(big break when I didn't listen to music much)

Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention, Pentangle,

The Sex Pistols, The Pogues R.E.M., The Smiths, Love and Rockets

Alan Parsons Project, Genesis King Crimson, Yes, Pink Floyd
Supertramp, E.L.O.

Led Zeppelin, Santana, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane

Note: This is just a general list of bands I like that I still like. There have been lots and lots of them in my 46 years. I've left out a bunch.

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly. If you're into Tool, I highly recommend you look into Porcupine Tree and Riverside as well.

I listen to a lot of different bands, including those three probably first and foremost. I also like the Mars Volta, Radiohead, Bloc Party, Nine Inch Nails, Muse, Modest Mouse, Anathema, Yes, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins... really, the list goes on. Mostly hard rock, but I have some other stuff in my collection too.
