One of my rare rhymed poems:

The Barefoot Priest

Long ago I knew an old Irish Priest
who hadn’t worn shoes for years.
He said that the Devil had won their soles
from an evil man, The Shoemaker,

who invented shows, believe it or not
(so the old Priest claimed to me).
Their soles were the bargain at the role of the dice
and the Devil had loaded those dice, you see.

That was the only answer the Priest ever offered
and I knew better than to question his reason.
“So, my son,” he warned each Sunday morning,
“give not the Devil his season!”

He walked for years, his toes to the road,
in the pleasure of his true pious lane.
But then one day his foot met a nail
and cut to the quick as he limped home in pain.

Now oddly enough it was a shoemaker’s nail,
and he lay in bed amidst this irony
while the small infection went to his head
and he mocked his own saintly piety.

The days slowly passed… and, yes, so did he--
that now his humble stone quaintly extends:
Here lies a priest who knows all too well
what devotion will get you in the end.

:D

i've been working on a poem for the last twelve years...

'roses are silver.
violets are...'

hmm and here's another original:

'the cat in the hat sat on the mat and went splat on the rat then did chat with the fat bat named Matt and that's about that'

oh and here's another one i thought of whilst in a state of total Nirvana:

"Munchies. I am hungry... tacos... in my belly... watching telly..."

I wrote this poem in my 9th grade English class:

How to Experience a Kiss

The kiss looks like it wants to surrender,
Its white flag flapping in the air on the brown tipped hill.
Its aroma like a morning delight,
The coffee is brewing, peaceful.
The sound is of leaves crunching beneath you,
When you take a walk in the forest.
When you grasp it, it's soft and fragile,
you feel like the night,
Smooth, dark, and quiet.
When you are finished,
Its bright, shiny cloak is laying in the middle of the table.
Gone.

Many of you are quite talented. I'm not particularly skilled at poetry, but here's one I wrote almost a week ago:

UnLive

To be and not to be
That is the essence
Of being me.

I awoke
Dead
I only exist.
To provoke
Life
That I can't resist.

I wander
If it's not possible
To see,
Parting the clouds asunder,
To know who I will be.

I wonder
Everywhere
To make myself understand
What I lack
And can't bear.

People recognize
Something.
They sort and they categorize
A being
That can't be me.

To die is to have lived
But I merely exist
So I will never die.

A dark and lonely room doth persist around me,
Dark shadows leap out crossed my walls,
letting me know the night is cold, and filled with things.
My mind splinters with disarray, at the way cold people think.
Letters I have written but never sent,
with no one to write but my own cold lonely nights.
Through my window I do spy,-
people walking hand in hand down the night time streets,
making my arms ake with only my pillow to take.
The hum of my computer at my side,
brings to life my only social life.
To make love to a woman is but a stroke on my keys,
but my arms remain as empty as the air inbetween her and I.
listening quietly I can hear the dust settle about me,
with only the sound of my own heartbeat to accompany me.
I close my eyes, all my dreams pass befor me,
all I do crumbles to the ground befor me, though I refuse to see,
That as long as I never leave this room I shall be safe,
and alone and untouchable as the moonlit sky.

Here is a poem I wrote from some one named Rick who is like family to my family.Well here it goes:
"You..."
You have touched my life in so many different ways
You've helped me progress through life's little maze
You recognized my potential beauty from whats with in
You gave me a chance by looking deeper than my skin
You showed me the way when I was lost
When I was scared you gave me your cross
That crusifix symbolizes more than you know
It symbolizes love and faith thats helped me grow
You showed me an un familiar love that shows your there
But better than that I can I have someone who does care
You reached out and touched the depths of my soul
You excepted my flaws and helped me regain control
I wanted to change and you gave me the right place to start
And just for that there'll always be room for you in my heart!

There was a majestic little hum
That could not rake couple shriek of sum
Given to fraud yet free
Please I answer to thee
Why is the sound therefore a bum

EDIT : It is supposed to be a non-sense limerick.

I haven't tried poetry for a while but I'll try to free-verse a little:

Trying to remember my roots
from where it all began
Am I from a supernova
am I as numerous as grains of sand

As I look out across eternity
I realize how small I am
yet some eternal corner beckons me
to immerse myself in the greater scheme

Things of this world mearly decay
and lose their luster with time
as the sands of time wash over
and bury the best of our lives

But something more timeless remains
completely uncorruptible by war
in those who care to nourish it
but what it is I wonder?

Its something I have no proof of
something no religion stands on
it's something way to personal
to fully get my words arround

I just know that when in touch
it chills me to the core
lifts me far above the world
makes me feel like there's so much more

For now I'll just live on
Do the routing another day
But I have my doubts, however I may age
That my essence will ever fade away

(sorry if it only rhymed in a few places but I hate doing it that way, feels too formulaic)
