The giants of the Beat movement and the literature they created still captures our imagination. So much so, that films about the works of beat literature, and the Beat authors themselves have been graced the silver screen, and have appeared on DVD. These include:

Naked Lunch
Howl
On The Road
Beat
Kill Your Darlings

William S. Burroughs: A Man Within
Burroughs
(These last two being documentaries.)

If there are others, I'd love to hear about them.
While all these are outstanding movies, my favorite so far is Kill Your Darlings. Anyone else have a favorite Beat movie?

Great topic! I read Big Sur, by Kerouac and dug it. Have not seen the film, but hope to, soon. You've got some good ones on your list.

I did not know there was a film adaptation of On the Road, but I have been waiting for (slightly dreading) one, as Kerouac is one of my favorites.
I thought I read somewhere that Francis Coppola held the rights to On the Road, so I was kind of excited for a minute. :(

Indeed there is. It can be found on DVD, and includes Kristen Stewart, Steve Buscemi, and Viggo Mortensen as Bull Lee (AKA William Burroughs).
