so alot of people tell me i should get into tattooing (ive been hearing this a lot since high school, even from teachers haha) and i think that scene realllly screams my name and love the idea of it but i guess the only thing thats stopped me is lack of confidence. to anyone that's seen the stuff ive posted here, do you think im good enough to get into that sorta thing? (i wont take offense if you dont think so) and if anyone wants to give me ideas of what to draw feel free to message me and maybe ill do it and post it, ill look at is as practice.

Until I discovered digital art I had amazing images in my mind that had no way of getting out.
I live in a small town where if its not a painting it not art is the norm. The local art prize has always been won by either a painting or drawing.
Doing digital art here I might as well be doing the two step with the devil.

Has anyone else here had issues in your community getting your art accepted?

There's so much more to art than just the piece itself. There's the thought and imagination that went into it and, most importantly, the care and dedication that is evident within the composition. Even though I was taught mostly in physical mediums, and prefer them (I enjoy the visceral feel of 'getting my hands dirty' for my art), I have the utmost respect for those that can do the digital stuff. I've dabbled a bit in it, and it definitely isn't for everyone. Don't be upset with the fact you aren't the same as the other artists in your town; embrace the fact that what you do is unique.

Drew a dragon for a buddy of mine. I had nabbed a set of Prismacolors so I wanted to try them out. :D

This was a doodle on my tablet that probably took about fifteen minutes.

This one took me about a week and a half. I was extremely frustrated, but I like the way it came out.

That's pretty much all I have for now. :P

[Cornflake or any other mod, could you possibly resize these for me? I don't have time to do the math right now.]
[No problemo - and very nice too; the doodle especially. CF]

Tagging Tenontosaurus
This young Tyrannosaurus rex, seeking a light snack, has seized a hapless Tenontosaurus tilletti (a distant relative of the duck-billed hadrosaurs) by the tail.

Thanks! The painting itself is only 5" x 9". I still have this painting. I am hoping to get my Etsy store back up soon.

Kinte the Sea Lizard
Once upon a time, the proud Queen Chinyere boasted that her daughter Adhiambo possessed a beauty rivaling the ocean goddess Yemaja herself. As is often the case with divinities, Yemaja could not let such hubris go unpunished. She sent her son Kinte, a monstrous sea lizard, to terrorize Chinyere and Adhiambo's seaside kingdom. Although Adhiambo was originally slated to inherit the kingdom's throne, her family decided to sacrifice her to Kinte's appetite in a desperate effort to save their civilization. But then a wandering warrior from the distant north has come in offering a riskier alternative solution...

This story, which I have outlined to the end and am currently writing, is actually a loose adaptation of the ancient Greek myth of Perseus and Andromeda, which also featured an African princess being sacrificed to a sea monster. However, the goddess in my story is named after a Nigerian Yoruba orisha who has her domain over the sea. As for Kinte himself, he is supposed to resemble a Cretaceous mosasaur, or carnivorous marine reptile which was distantly related to monitor lizards like the Komodo dragon.

Another character from the same story as Kinte...
Image
Forsei the Wanderer
Forsei comes from a race of stocky white people who roam the icy tundras of the farthest north. However, since the rest of his band was abducted by slavers from the distant east before he reached the cusp of his manhood, Forsei has spent most of his life traveling the world and fending for himself. His wanderings have brought him all the way to the tropical south, where he finds a native kingdom besieged by the sea monster Kinte. Forsei believes that he can slay Kinte and win himself the beautiful princess Adhiambo, but he must contend not only with the beast but also someone who seeks to sabotage his quest.

Despite his Nordic appearance and his name's more-than-coincidental similarity to that of the Norse god Forseti, my character Forsei is actually based more closely on the Greek demigod Perseus, who also had to save an African princess from a sea monster. As you might guess, he also owes much inspiration to Robert E. Howard's various barbarian characters, most of all Niord/James Allison from his Valley of the Worm story.

Sarah the Bat Woman
Thrown out from normal society due to her odd appearance and only coming out at night, Sarah lives currently in a cave far away from civilization. She's actually benign and shy. The cause of her wounds are from villagers who believed she was a demon.

Hikuptan Battle Behemoth
Despite its vaguely rhinoceros-like appearance, the Hikuptan behemoth (Arsinoitherium giganteum) is actually more closely related to the elephant family. It browses in small family groups within wetlands throughout the Aethiopian continent, including Hikuptah's Iteru Delta. The Hikuptan military uses these double-horned beasts as heavy shock cavalry along with elephants and hippopotamuses.

(The Hikuptans are analogous to the ancient Egyptian and Nubian peoples in one of my constructed worlds.)

It feels like you captured a wary yet happy soul by using her smile and body language. I like it!
