2112 is one of the best rock albums ever.

Hemispheres would outrank 2112, in my opinion, save that it's spoiled because the first part of the story, "Cygnus X-1, Book One: The Voyage", is on the album Permanent Waves instead.

OTOH, I'd nominate Moving Pictures as their best to date - haven't had a very good chance to listen thoroughly to Snakes & Arrows yet.

(Why, yes, I'm a bit of a fan - why do you ask?)

Trivia moment: In one issue of Justice League, Green Lantern John Stewart has drawn monitor duty, and the Flash (Wally West) is keeping him company. GL is reading a book of Neil Peart's published poetry. The Flash notes that Rush is sometimes called "math rock", for their habit of changing time signatures within a song. He also says they're his favorite band, because when you have a hyperaccelerated metabolism, plain old 3/4 or 4/4 time gets pretty boring after a while.

Rush pwns. Enough said.

So far, i've got about two albums, Exit: Stage Left and The Spirit Of Radio: Greatest Hits. As soon as i got the CD's, i ripped them to my compy and put them all as five-star songs on my iPod.

Here is the list:

A Passage to Bangkok
YYZ
Working Man
Fly By Night
2112 Overture/The Temples of Syrinx
Closer to the Heart
The Trees
The Spirit of Radio
Freewill
Limelight
Tom Sawyer
Red Barchetta
New World Man
Subdivisions
Distant Early Warning
The Big Money
Force Ten
(my personal favorite)
Time Stand Still
Roll the Bones

Rush is one of the greatest bands ever in my opinion. All 3 of the members are so amazingly talented.

im taking my dad to go see them
he's been several times but this will be my first rush concert so it will be awesome

they just released a new album but i hope they play some of their early stuff like the cygnus's

and i agree that hemispheres is better than 2112 not to say that 2112 isnt an absolutely amazing album which it is

and im pretty sure that cygnus x-1 book 1 is on farewell to kings not permanent waves

Everyone should check out the Snakes & Arrows album. It has very profound meaning, as all of their albums do. Easily one of my favorites, if not most favorite. 8)

I agree!! :sunny: I used to have the 2112 album back in the 80's and currently own the Spirit Of The Radio: Greatest Hits cd. I'm going to see them in May with a friend of mine. (She saw Rush in 1984 with her brother and said it was an incredible concert.) I can't wait to see them!!

(If anyone here is interested, check out Rush on youtube. There's some excellent concert footage... and they sound just as good now, as they did back in the 70's / 80's!!)
