Music that brings you closest to tears, or brings out the most tears...I love utterly sad and depressing songs.

Mine:

Evanescence - "The Last Song I'm Wasting on You," "Solitude," and "Missing"
Narsilion - "Enmig Del Silenci"
Straylight Run - "Hands in the Sky"
Marilyn Manson - "Coma Black"
Vast - "Flames"
all my faith lost - "argea (the faithful faery)"
Tom McRae - "Ghost of a Shark"
Autumn Tears - "The Beauty in All Things"
Tapping the Vein - "Again" (used to really get to me, not quite as much anymore though)
Sarah Bettens - "All of this Past"
Clint Mansell - "Together We Will Live Forever" (from "The Fountain" soundtrack)
NIN - "Hurt"
The Cure - "Lost"
Within Temptation - "Forgiven"
Dark Sanctuary - "L'Arrogance"

Honestly, I never really cried due to sad music. However, I came close, though. First off, it wasn't songs, but some music that I've either played in band or music that I've heard from movies.

When I first heard "Heroes Lost and Fallen (A Vietnam Memorial)" by David R. Gillingham and "Whatsoever Things..." by Mark Camphouse, I was really moved by the endings. In fact, I almost shed a tear for both of them. So I don't confuse you, these are pieces that I played in my college symphonic band this year.

A couple of sad themes from movies were a bit moving as well, including the ending music for "Edward Scissorhands" and "Princess Mononoke".

As you can see, I'm more of a classical/contemporary listener. I apologize if this was irrelevant.

Chicane - No Ordinary Morning
Elvis Costello - I'll Never Fall in Love Again
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
Rammstein - Seemann
The Flying Pickets - Only You
Art Garfunkel - Bright Eyes

I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them now.

Many rivers to cross
But I can't seem to find my way over
Wandering I am lost
As I travel along the white cliffs of dover

Many rivers to cross
And it's only my will that keeps me alive
I've been licked, washed up for years
And I merely survive because of my pride

And this loneliness won't leave me alone
It's such a drag to be on your own
My cat left me and I'll never know why
Well, I guess I'll have to cry

Many rivers to cross
But just where to begin I'm playing for time
There have been times I find myself
Thinking of committing some dreadful crime

Yes, I've got many rivers to cross
But I can't seem to find my way over
Wandering, I am lost
As I travel along the white cliffs of Dover

Yes, I've got many rivers to cross
And I merely survive because of my will...

Nirvana - Lithium

I’m so happy ’cause today
I’ve found my friends ...
They’re in my head
I’m so ugly, but that’s okay, ’cause so are you ...
We’ve broken our mirrors
Sunday morning is everyday for all I care ...
And I’m not scared
Light my candles, in a daze
’cause I’ve found god
Yeah (x6)

I’m so lonely but that’s okay, I shaved my head ...
And I’m not sad
And just maybe I’m to blame for all I’ve heard ...
But I’m not sure
I’m so excited, I can’t wait to meet you there ...
But I don’t care
I’m so horny, but that’s okay ...
My will is good
Yeah(x6)

(x2)
I like it - I’m not gonna crack
I miss you - I’m not gonna crack
I love you - I’m not gonna crack
I killed you - I’m not gonna crack

I’m so happy ’cause today
I’ve found my friends ...
They’re in my head
I’m so ugly, but that’s okay, ’cause so are you ...
We’ve broken our mirrors
Sunday morning is everyday for all I care ...
And I’m not scared
Light my candles in a daze ...
’cause I’ve found god
Yeah, yeah, yeah(x2)

(x2)
I like it - I’m not gonna crack
I miss you - I’m not gonna crack
I love you - I’m not gonna crack
I killed you - I’m not gonna crack

I Never Will Marry

Traditional- arranged by Linda Ronstadt
© 1977 Normal Music (BMI)

They say that love's a gentle thing
But it's only brought me pain
For the only man I ever loved
Has gone on the morning train

I never will marry
I'll be no man's wife
I expect to live single
All the days of my life

Well the train pulled out
The whistle blew
With a long and a lonesome moan
He's gone he's gone
Like the morning dew
And left me all alone

I never will marry
I'll be no man's wife
I expect to live single
All the days of my life

Well there's many a change in the winter wind
And a change in the cloud's design
There's many a change in a young man's heart
But never a change in mine

I never will marry
I'll be no man's wife
I expect to live single
All the days of my life

The water is wide. I cannot get oer
And neither have I wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And both shall row my love and i

I leaned my back up against an oak
I thought it was a trusty tree
But first it swayed and then it broke
And so my false love did unto me

Oh love is handsome and love is kind
And loves a jewel when it is new
But love grows old and waxes cold
And fades away like morning dew
Morning dew
Morning dew
Like morning dew

I love REM - Country Feedback

Quote:
This flower is scorched
This film is on
On a maddening loop.
These clothes,
These clothes don’t fit us right
I’m to blame
It’s all the same
It’s all the same

You come to me with a bone in your hand
You come to me with your hair curled tight
You come to me with positions
You come to me with excuses
Ducked out in a row
You wear me out
You wear me out

We’ve been through fake-a-breakdown
Self hurt
Plastics, collections
Self help, self pain,
EST, psychics, f**k all
I was central
I had control
I lost my head
I need this
I need this
A paper weight, junk garage
Winter rain, a honey pot
Crazy, all the lovers have been tagged.
A hotline, a wanted ad
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
It’s crazy what you could’ve had
I need this
I need this

Also I love Around the Sun (the album) - many sad songs on there.

In no specific order:

Nightwish - "Dead Boy's Poem," "Ghost Love Score," and maybe "Beauty Of The Beast" (last two may or may not be considered "sad songs")
Tristania - "A Sequel Of Decay," and "Evenfall"
After Forever - "Eccentric"
Virgin Black - "...And I Am Suffering"
Kamelot - "Love You To Death"
Epica - "Run For A Fall"

This probably isn't a complete list.
